This is what we can look forward to when we all get our babies, and they grow up to be 6 year olds.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you all had a great winter break. I know I enjoyed the time with my family. However, I missed my kids here at school. One of the many things I love about teaching is the expected conversations that we sometimes stumble into. This afternoon we had one of those conversations that I didn't forsee going in the direction that it did. I'd like to share it with you.

A male student received new shoes over break. He was having some difficulty getting his foot in one of the shoes so he asked for help. I loosened the shoe laces and slipped it on his foot. As I was tying his shoe, I commented that it was just like the lucky glass slipper so he must be the prince who can marry whomever he wants. Hearing this, he replied, "I'm never getting married!" To which a female student said, " I am! I want to have babies!" The male then replied that you don't have to get married to have a baby. Another female responded with, "Yes, you do! You have to have a boy and a girl to have a baby." The male then stated that his cousin has a book that says that boys can marry boys and girls can marry girls. Now I have 38 eyes looking at me so I replied, that yes, in some places boys can marry boys and girls can marry girls but then they would probably adopt a child. Then the second female student announced, " Well if you want to have a baby, girls have to marry boys because girls have an egg and boys don't. Boys have the thing that cracks the egg open so the baby can grow."

Thankfully, the conversation ceased as quickly as it began and it was time to go to art class.

I'm sharing this story with you for two reasons:

1. In case your child should come home today and ask you any questions about marriage, eggs and egg crackers I thought you should know the background info.

2. It made me laugh and I thought you might find it to be humorous too.

I can't wait to wake up DH and tell him he's full of Egg Crackers. LOL
