My husband Ihave been ttc for 4 months now. The last two months we started using the Rite Aid ovulation predictor strips. Last month I had 9 days of positive tests in a row and this month I am on my 6th positive test. This just seems really odd to me. I am worried that I may not be ovulating. Has anybody had this same issue multiple months in a row?

Hi there,

I'm Nicholle (33), one of the cohosts of this board. DH and I have been trying for 1 1/2 years. I have never received a positive OPK for more than 2 days. 9 days of positives does not sound right! Sometimes OPKs can be near positive, but not positive. Is the test line as dark as or darker than the control line? If this is the case every time, you may have faulty tests. I would switch brands if this continues to happen. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks. All of my positive tests the test line has been as dark or darker than the control. I will take your advice and switch brands. Good luck ttc, who knew things would be as easy as some people make it seem.

yeah 9 days sounds really off.

I learned last cycle, that some strips are more sensitive than others.. just like hpts. But unlike hpts, that might be a bad thing for woman who Ovulate normally. A test that only goes to a 30 sensitivity may show positive for days for a woman who's actual body puts out 40 mul LH! We ate the price last month and bought the clear blue digi kit... though I'm 99% sure I caught only the very back end of my surge (right before it dropped), it did take a lot of the guess work out after I read up on how the handle works.

You could try the ClearBlue digital opks. Then you don't have to analyze line darkness. They are expensive though...

I was wondering this too... last month I had 3 days that I think could have been read as positive. Next time I think I will get digitals... test with the cheapos and confirm with the expensive ones.

hmm 9 days does sound alot...if it would help I know we'd be happy to look at photos of them to see if we could offer any interpretation

Perhaps a different brand, like Ashley already said, different ones will measure at different LH levels and yours may naturally be higher than average

and keep us posted

Yeah, if you just use the cheap ones to confirm positives, it's really not that expensive. I probably only go through 2 or 3 digi sticks a cycle.

Talked to the OBGYN and she said to just keep trying and to let things run its course. As far as the multiple positive pks she said to just stop using them to predict ovulation and pay attention to how my body feels. SHe also said that she can not test for fertility problems such as not ovulating until we have been trying for over a year.
