Good evening. My name is Sara. I have been with DH for 3 years on March 21, married since Oct 21, 2012. In July I broke my ankle, requiring surgery to have a plate and screws put in. The bed rest took it's toll. In mid August I was in the hospital with an extensive blood clot spanning from my knee into my abdomen. 8 days in the hospital including 2 in ICU after TPA treatment (medical draino of sorts) cleared 90% of the clot. I was lucky to save my leg and to survive. I've been on Coumadin since then. In December I had my first blood test show positive for anti-phospholipid syndrome, an auto immune clotting disorder. On Monday I find out if my second test is positive, which would be an official diagnosis of APS. On the one hand, scary; but on the other hand, it would be nice to have a reason for 3 previous miscarriages. I have been told regardless of the diagnosis, I will have to be on Heparin injections for 9 months of pregnancy and a couple months after. I feel born to be a mom, so I am okay with however I have to achieve that.

So with that...I am here because we have decided to TTC starting in May. I have some hardcore baby fever now just knowing we will be trying soon. I hope and pray that not only will we have a healthy baby, but that it won't take long for a BFP.

Any advice, guidance, stories you want to share will be very welcome.

Welcome, Sara! My name is Lindsay. DH and I have been trying since June. Not sure I have any advice per se, but the ladies on this board are incredibly supportive. I hope you have a short but sweet stay here, and get a BFP really quickly!

My only real suggestion is to start temping (I use Fertility Friend) and to read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" - it really has some great insights into how the process works. Sounds like you have some special consideration, but the doctors are definitely on your side!!

Good luck and welcome!!

Welcome to JM!!

I'm Elle (27) been with DH for almost 6 years and TTC since August 2012. I am so sorry for your losses. I think Jessica gave you some great advice. Fertility Friend is a really amazing resource. I take my basal temperature, chart cervical mucous, and use OPKs - and I keep track of everything on Fertility Friend (there is also an app you can put on your phone that makes it super easy to keep track of everything)

Best of luck you! Hope you get your BFP soon!

Sorry that I'm late to respond. The ladies gave you some great advice. I just wanted to share that sometimes it takes awhile for us to get pregnant, so try to keep your spirits up during your ttcing. Of course, if you need support, please feel free to jump back onto the boards, ask questions and rant as needed.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I have been officially diagnosed with APS now. The doctor switched me to Lovenox injections twice a day so that I will be all set to TTC. I have to wait until my INR levels drop before I start the injections. I thought that would be tonight, but my INR isn't low enough yet. I had a feeling with my family medical history that my test would come out positive, and I researched a lot so I could ask all the right questions, but I still cried when the doctor told me. The doctor has agreed that I need to start prenatal vitamins now. I am still anemic so I have to get better about taking my iron supplement, especially if I want to have a baby.

I have started the road to weight loss. It seems so much easier to stay motivated when my motivation is being healthy for my future children. Anytime I want some cookies or candy (sweets are my downfall), I just think of whether my future children or that cookie is more important.

I read the welcome info for this board and downloaded the fertility friend app. I have started charting my morning temps and CF. Now that I am off of birth control pill (can't ever be on it again due to the blood clot), I have realized that I experience ovulation pain. I am hoping that will make it easier to notice with all the other tracking I am now doing.

I am very close to my family and have told them about DH and my plans to TTC. My mother is over the moon. My older brother has a 2 yr old son, but they live in Virginia. My mother lives and breathes being a grandmother and is looking forward to having local grandchildren. She keeps telling me she wants a granddaughter. Her health isn't the greatest, so another reason I hope I get a BFP and a healthy baby is so I can have my mom with me throughout it all.

Well, that's about all for now. I have to remember I am on a message board now so I check in more often. Good luck ladies. I hope we all get what we want, a happy healthy baby.

Late to the game but welcome!

I hope it's a short stay around here for you. We are a friendly group. If you have questions then don't be afraid to ask them.
