I was wondering how many people will be working after their maternity leave? I will out from work for about 2 months or so, but I have to go back. We are hoping that his dad can watch the baby during the week, but if not we found a very resonable day care that we will look into once we are pregnant.

I am lucky though because I have a great work schedule...I work from 6:00am-1:30am...so when we do have a child, my DH will drop him/her off at the day care and I can pick them up and be home by 2:00pm....

I would take the full 6mths on full pay,
then the extra 6mths on half pay.
I would then go back part time and my mum and dad would mind our baby.

If it works out the same money with my DB getting tax credits i may be a SAHM
As that would be great spending everyday with our baby

Wow...6 months of full pay that is great!! I wish my company did that, they only do 6 weeks of 60% of pay and then the rest I would use my sick and vacation time....I wish we had the money for me to stay home but that would just not be possible.....and I don't want to have to wait years before we could have a baby..

I am a full time student, and I hope to have the baby during a school break. If it doesn't work out, I will take a semester off only if absolutely necessary. Once school starts up again, I will be back there full time, and I have no idea what my schedule will be like. I'll probably be student teaching by then, so it may resemble a work schedule. So with me, it totally depends on when I get pg on how much time I'll have off. The next month or two will be a good time, cuz then I'll get the whole summer.

I have to go back to work. I am (literally) 50% of our total income, and with student loan repayments and a mortgage, there is no way we could swing me being a SAHM-Though I would really love to do it! I'll have 8 weeks off for maternity leave (I have to use all of my vacation and sick in order to be paid during that time). Then we think DH can take 2-4 weeks paternity so that we won't have to put the baby in daycare until he/she is 12 weeks.

I am planning to stay at home for about the first year, and after that I will either go back fulltime or parttime. I would love to be a SAHM but unless DH gets a huge raise it won't be possible.

I live in Ontario, Canada, so our Mat leave is for one year. (too bad it wasn't full pay though grrrrr)

I'll be home for that year, but I will definitely have to go back to work!

I make more than my bf for now, so it would actually make more sense if HE stayed home, but I know he wouldn't want to either.

I'm just hoping that when the time comes I'll be able to find a very reasonable day care or babysitter!!!

Wow...one year would be great...but I am sure that it will be really hard to go back to work.

As soon as we are able to have me be a SAHM I would love to do it! I have already been checking around prices for daycare and we did find one place that is only 480 a month...which is really good for the quality of the daycare.

Wouldn't life be great if everyone could be a SAHM!!
