So it's been a week since my ultrasound and I've been stressing because if it was good news I figured they would know pretty quick.

Well....it wasn't good news.

I do have PCOS. I am freaking out right now and so scared. I had a cyst one time that burst but at the time I was told it was a stand alone incidence. I guess birth control has been masking the PCOS. I have been on a weight rollercoaster over the last 2 years, I lost 50 lbs and put back on almost 40 of it. I know my first course of action is to try and lose the weight, but now I am so scared about what this means for my fertility.

Really feel overwhelmed right now. I've known something hasn't been right with my body lately and now I finally know why..

It's also Day 4 after my progesterone round and I am finally getting spotting, but how long it has taken the spotting to start has made me feel like something has been wrong with me.

Honestly, I just feel broken right now.

*hugs*

i'm sorry sweetie!! Losing weight is a good place to start. You should have your doctor check all your hormones, you might need help getting them balanced, which would help your weight loss too

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for all you are going through That is a lot to take in at once. I wish I knew more about this so I could offer you anything but I am fairly unfamiliar with PCOS.

There is a board on JM for ladies with PCOS and the ladies on there may have advice and words of encouragement for you. Trying to Conceive With PCOS - JustMommies Message Boards

We are here for you anytime too.

Thank you ladies. My Thyroid & FSH were both in normal ranges right now. I am not sure if there are other tests I need to request though. I had never even heard of PCOS until a couple years ago and all I pretty much know is what the name means. I will definitely have to connect with people that know it and have experienced it so that I can have an idea of what this really means. As far as I know it's not genetic, but women in my family also don't talk about "that" stuff so I am a bit afraid to bring it up to find out.

That is heartbreaking news! Isn't sad but validating how we can just KNOW our bodies? I have super been struggling with feeling like my body is broken and it's a terrible feeling.

If you have just started spotting then your period may be making things worse emotionally for you.

PCOS is very manageable so don't throw in the towel or give up hope yet.

I'm sorry they had such bad news for you. It's okay to feel sad about it. Healing will come.

So sorry! Like Elle said, there is a JM board full of ladies with pcos who can give awesome advice. Many women still conceive naturally with pcos, hopefully you will be one of those women very soon!

They'd test your estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and Prolactin. Any of those out of balance can cause issues. Especially testosterone.

I know my test results definitely didn't list all those things so I will discuss it with the doctor on my follow up visit.

Hugs! I'm sorry you got this bad news! Maybe look at it like, well, at least you know what's up so you will have an easier time treating your issues.

I hope you can find some answers!

So sorry for the news, I have pcos and it is manageable. Many women go on to have very healthy pregnancies. I also have hypothyroid which adds to my infertility issues.

Have they mentioned any meds like metformin? Its very good about helping regulate your period, at least it did for me when I took it. I just want to say to that my cousin also has it and conceived her first 50 mg clomid cycle. Good luck, if you ever have questions I'll try my best to answer them

I haven't had a very thorough conversation with the doctor so there was no discussion of medications aside from "in a year we can try fertility drugs". The OB I initially saw is getting ready to leave my medical center location and so the new OB she transferred me to is the one that called to discuss the results and I was a little in numb when on the phone with her. She wants me to wait 2 months before seeing her so that I can bring in a couple months of charting so she can come up with a plan of action based upon it.

I completely know how you feel. This past year has been horrible for me medically with complications from a simple D&C to remove polyps, then gallstone attack, sinus surgery, broken ankle and surgery to fix, blood clot, and then diagnosis of a clotting disorder.

I know exactly how you feel that it's a relief when there is a name to it, but then there are all the fears and resentments after. I was relieved to hear that my clotting disorder was probably the reason I miscarried 3x, but then there was anger that I have to go through SO MUCH just to be a mom. And almost every weekend for the past 5 weeks I sit and cry that women that don't even want or shouldn't have a baby can get pregnant with less hassle than me.

Even though I don't have PCOS, feel free to PM me anytime. I just keep trying to picture my future baby in my head and thinking it will all be worth it someday when I hold my child.

I'm not in a great place right now to be giving advice but I do share your pain. I hope you can get a good plan together with your doctor and I think the other ladies have given some great advice
