Hello everyone,

My name is Julie and I just turned 38. My husband and I have been wanting to start a family for a couple of years now. My body has betrayed me three times and each time finding out I wasn't pregant was awful. We started actively trying a couple of months ago, but have had no success yet. My cycle is not like it used to be. It is much lighter now and shorter. Any advice is welcome. I really want to be a mother and it's hard to see everyone around me having babies. We haven't prevented pregnancy for close to. Two years now. It's hard to go from month to month and nothing happens.

Thanks for the welcome. It will be nice to have a support system. I get so frustrated sometimes and I know my husband gets tired of hearing me talk about it.

Hi I'm Jen (26) one of the co-hosts of the board. Sorry if it seems quiet here, we dont have as much activity on the weekends. Me and DF have been trying since July 2011 and are just about to start our first IUI next cycle.

I'm sorry your finding TTC so difficult, its a very emotionally draining and difficult process at times

As to suggestions..do you chart your BBT? You might want to swing by fertilityfriend.com and look into their charting courses and sign up (its free). I would also recommend a book called 'taking charge of your fertility'. I guess the basics are to start tracking your cycle length and go from there, you might find that you're ovulating at funny times of the month and your missing your fertile window - most people dont O at CD14 like alot of people think

Any questions...shout up! We'll do our best to help!

I have been calculating when I am most fertile for the last couple of months. My cycle was five days late the first month and I started on the sixth day and was more normal than it has been in months. The second month I started 3 days early and it was lighter and short again. Last month I started when I was supposed to and again it was light and short again. I have learned not to get my hopes up too far. The last three times were a lesson learned. My body is not normal since I got married. My hormones are totally different.

Hi! I'm Sam. With your age you might consider getting an appointment with an GYN or RE immediately. There are many things that could cause an irregular cycle.

Hopefully you won't have to stick around the board too long before moving to a DDC but if you do then you can rest assured that this is a really supportive group of ladies.

Hi Julie!

First off, welcome! I agree with Jen, if you're not tracking your temperatures, I would swing by Fertility Friend to find out what it's all about.

If you're interested in intervention, at 38 and trying for 2 years, your OB will likely give you a referral for a fertility doctor (a reproductive endocrinologist) if you want it. It might be something to look into to see what's going on.

Also, if you're amenable to alternative therapies, I know there has been some incredible work with acupuncture. I am reading a book called "Making Babies" that talks about natural methods, like changing diet and lifestyle, plus acupuncture, that are supposed to help fertility. It's written by an RE, so I'm considering trying the suggestions for my body type.

In any case, welcome and we're glad to have you here!

Welcome, Julie! You've found a great place!

The ladies here are nothing but supportive and so much knowledge.

I'm Amy, my husband and I have been NTNP like you for about 2 years, and actively TTC for almost a year now.

I agree with what many of the others have said, you may want talk to your doctor to look into seeing a fertility specialist if you have been trying for a while.

Again, welcome!

Hi Julie! (And the other Julie!)

Welcome - I'm Em, 28, and am fairly new here. TTC with my husband who is 30.

These ladies are so awesome -- it's like having 15 older, wiser sisters

Thanks for the welcomes!!! I am glad to have found this forum. My cycle has been short and light to medium for the last couple of years. I have gotten used to it. Unfortunately I don't have insurance and my husband is the only one working at the moment. Most of our money goes to bills. I am lucky to have babies and kids surrounding me. I work in the childrens department at church and do lots of nursery work. My niece and nephew give me such joy too. It is bittersweet in a way though. I sometimes feel envious of those around me having babies. I guess that comes with the territory. Your advice has been helpfull.

Hi there - I am Elle - welcome to the boards.

I completely agree with the other ladies about charting your BBT. It can be so helpful and I have learned so much since I started charting. As the ladies mentioned - Fertility Friend is a wonderful online resource. They have many free lessons as well that taught me so much.

I wish you the very best of luck!

Hi, I'm Tonya! And Welcome. I hope your stay here is short & sweet. I agree with the ladies it's important to make sure you are tracking your temp & CM. Also I could make an appt with a specialist, because we all aren't getting any younger. I see a specialist.

DH and I have been activeitly TTC since August 2012

I signed up on the fertility friend site and had my first lesson. According to the chart I am most fertile right now. Going to the doctor is impossible right now money wise. We still owe over 600 dollars from last time my body made me think I was pregnant. I went to an obgyn and he took blood and gave me an ultrasound. My uturus is no longer large and bulky like it was the second time my body failed me. That was the good thing I learned. I am enjoying being around people who understand what I am going through.
