I posted about a horrible drs appointment yesterday on TTCAL. If you'd like an update... I'm not sure if it is rude to cross post and double post? At any rate it was too horrible for words. I came home and cried the whole evening.

I am taking today off work because the GYN I saw yesterday gave me a referral to another GYN at the hospital. They want to do an ultrasound and make sure everything was expelled. If not she said D&C but I don't know what to think of that.

I really want this new GYN to investigate the light periods. Even with this loss, I bled for an afternoon ... And then spotted for a few days. It was heavier than my periods are but not by much. The GYN yesterday refused to answer my questions about uterine lining, saying only that if you produce enough estrogen to release an egg, then the lining is thick enough to accept it.

Please pray that I have the strength to get through this appointment and that the new GYN is at least willing to listen to my concerns. I deal horribly with medical situations at the best of times.

Thanks for all your support ladies. When I joined these boards I never knew how much I would need it...

I agree with Jen - dont worry about cross posting. I already responded on the TTCAL board but I really am so sorry you had to go through all of that. I hope the new doctor will be better - I don't see how she could be worse really. . .

KUP on how your ultra sound goes today hopefully you will not need the D&C. If you have any questions or want to talk please PM me any time.

Of course you have my prayers. I'm so sorry that you haven't received the info you need. The whole process sounds scary and overwhelming. Can you take someone with you to your appointments? Maybe that will make it easier for you to communicate with the doctors. Or maybe you can find a nurse who will be less rushed and can answer your questions. Big hugs your way. I'll be anxiously looking for updates from you today.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry Anna.

Just a thought, I'm not sure what kind of insurance you have, but sometimes there insurers have someone (like a nurse, or health care liason) you can call and talk to and they can give advice and help you through the medical process. I realize that emotional support is probably needed most of all right now, but if you need answers about procedures, how to handle seeing multiple doctors, whatever, insurers sometimes have a person who can listen to your questions/concerns and give you advice.

Thinking of you...

1- no worries about cross posting
2- be glad for that referral.

Many woman do NOT produce sufficient lining but still ovulate. Many get pregnant, and miscarry. No reason is found.. the assumption is insufficient uterine lining. You need enough lining for the egg to implant in. It doesn't just stick to the linng, it imbeds. If you only have 1-2mm of lining.. where is it going to imbed? No where.

I strongly encourage you to have them look at your lining. You may not be shedding it properly, or you may not have enough. Either way, you should know.

*hugs*

Anna, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with inconsiderate people like that... and a doctor none the less! It made my heart hurt to read your account of the appointment.

As the ladies have mentioned - don't worry about cross posting OR feeling like you need to keep posts brief. Sometimes, you just have to get everything out... and we're here to listen(read) what's on your mind.

I will be praying that the new GYN is a compassionate doctor and gives you the information you need as well as the medical attention that you deserve. KUP.

Ladies, thank you so much! I cried tears of RELIEF about five minutes into the appointment. Ashley ... Thank you! I know that the lining needs to be of a certain thickness, and the doctor yesterday looked at me like I had two heads and demanded to know who told me that! I just needed some validation more than anything.

So, the appointment start to finish: first she sat and took my history of this loss, and then my history of AF. starting at age eleven, normal five day periods, changing a pad / tampon every three to four hours. Until my LEEP. I've been on and off BC twice and tried all kinds of herbal remedies to bring it back. I spot day one, have enough bleeding to warrant a tampon in the morning (a regular one) and then spot again on day three.

THE FIRST THING SHE SAID:"Ok, we can run an ultrasound to check the lining of your uterus and see if it is thick enough to support pregnancy". Those were her words and I didn't have to beg her to say them or even suggest it myself. I started to cry at this point and thanked her for listening to me. She said she couldn't understand why another doctor wouldn't investigate but that she couldn't criticize another's work.

She ordered a thyroid test as well as FSH and another one that ends in H. She also ordered an ultrasound, one this week to ensure everything is clear after my loss, and another one in a couple weeks to see if my lining has increased between now and then.

Finally, she examined my cervix for abnormalities and to check for scar tissue. None! So that is one relief to be thankful for!

I have another appointment with her in six weeks when she will have the results of all my tests. If something is wrong with the ultrasound they do this week, they will call. She did not say if we should continue to TTC in the meantime.

Yesterday and this morning I was such a sobbing mess I couldn't begin to think of TTC but now I feel hopeful that at least someone is taking me seriously.

Thank you, thank you, thank you ladies for your words! I feel so much more relaxed and happy. I called the nutritionist today to set up my appointment as well, so hopefully he will be able to look over my supplements and give me the ok or some improvements to make.

I'm going to sleep a lot better tonight! Thank you so much, all of you!

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear that your first appointment was so awful... how insensitive. I am glad the new doctor is taking you concerns seriously and is taking action!

*hugs* It sounds like you have a good course of action laid out for you now. Many prayers that you will have the strength and support to deal with all of this, and that all of it will be sorted out soon.

I am glad that the second doctor took you seriously!!!!! And I look forward to hearing the results of your test.

Deciding whether or not to ttc this cycle or not is fully up to you. Honestly taking a cycle off would not be a hugely bad idea... I think that meds to thicken lining are given in the first half of the cycle (usually estrogen patches I think). Plus it would give you a cycle/another cycle to heal up.

*hugs*

Anna I just got to reading this and I am so sorry! I feel absolutely at a loss for words at the thought of doctors being so inconsiderate. I feel that OB doctors should have to go through an interview process in order to have the sympathy and compassion to deal with people TTC. Bastards alot of them are, sorry about the bad word.

I hope that you find the hope and the courage to make it through this and know that we will all be here to support you. Coming off of any M/C is hard and it would not be bad for you to take off a month TTC. DH and I right now are still waiting on some results so we are NTNP at this very moment...(not really BDing at all actually )

Big Hugs to you lady!
