So, I have some questions... keep in mind, I'm not officially testing until tomorrow morning.

1. How can I, who has only taken very few HPTs and all of them being stark white negatives, tell the difference between an evap line and a very light positive?

2. Is it common to get 5 evaps in a row on two different brands of HPTs? (of those two brands, it could be that two different batches of WondFos were used?)

3. Have any of you heard of this crazy thing where people are using blood to take urine HPTs? Something about combining blood and water and then using it in place of urine??? WHAT?!?! Is this legit? Or crazy???

4. IF a woman is in fact pregnant, does it need to be FMU or can they use a good concentrated urine any time of the day?

My first advice is to pee in a cup instead of midstream collection - then you can use multiple tests with FMU if needed.

1. Post them to JM!!! I am being greedy because I want you to share but I would say that depends on the brand you use. I have never seen a pink evap line on an FRER I think those are fairly reliable (a gray line is usually an evap). So my plan has always been if I see a potential evap or BFP on a wondfo then I double check with an FRER.

2. I would not think 5 evaps in a row with different brands of HPTs would be very common at all - but if they are all wondfos then it can be harder to say I think that is a possibility with all wondfos.

3. I have never heard of this. . . I will have to investigate further although I am not one to make myself bleed voluntarily. . . .

4. FMU is the best for sure - if you can't use FMU then second best would be drinking minimal fluids and at least a 4 hour hold time. But I still suggest FMU.

Firstly, I second Elle's advice to pee in a cup!

In response to your questions:
1. I would say an evap line usually doesnt have colour - will be grey in tone rather than pink. Get second opinions if unsure - JM!
2. common no, id still say possible though
3. no I havent heard of this, sounds crazy to me!
4. FMU is what manufacturers of HPT recommend as its more concentrated. HOWEVER i have seen multiple ladies get better positives on tests taken in an evening with urine held for a few hours. Yeah...really helpful I know

The first, second, third pictures are from todays FMU (11 DPO) - using a walmart cheapie, two Wond-Fo batches.

The fourth/fifth pictures are from yesterday (10 DPO) - top from FMU, bottom from 5 hr hold -- VERY concentrated.

It's so hard to see anything on them, but you can see it IRL -- even DH who has horrible eye sight could see the lines. They are pink, not grey. I'm trying not to get excited... I'm cramping today and that's making me think AF is around the corner... but this is the first time I've gotten a line of any sort.

Oh, and I always pee in a cup... I am such a bad aim that I can't keep a stick in a stream for long enough!

And don't sugar coat anything, ladies... if you don't see lines, be honest. I can take it.

I'm with the other girls... Always pee in a cup!

1. How can I, who has only taken very few HPTs and all of them being stark white negatives, tell the difference between an evap line and a very light positive?

I don't think you can, sadly. Essentially you just obsess over it until the next day, when hopefully it will get darker.

2. Is it common to get 5 evaps in a row on two different brands of HPTs? (of those two brands, it could be that two different batches of WondFos were used?)

I don't think so. I had two tests of two brands that were iffy, and the next day used a FRER and it was +. Five iffy tests in a row.... I think that's a +, LOL.

3. Have any of you heard of this crazy thing where people are using blood to take urine HPTs? Something about combining blood and water and then using it in place of urine??? WHAT?!?! Is this legit? Or crazy???

That's insanity.

4. IF a woman is in fact pregnant, does it need to be FMU or can they use a good concentrated urine any time of the day?

I think FRER tests recommend that if it is the day AF is due or before, use FMU, but after that point the HCG will be strong enough to be detected at any time.

Keep us posted and good luck!
