I Od earlier than normal which was already strange, my temps have been a little different than past cycles, and then starting yesterday I am spotting at 4DPO.

Here comes the TMI part. . . I am not even sure if it is spotting. Yesterdays was red and a few small red clots (but no need for pad) and then todays is brown and brown clots in the toilet (still no need for a pad)

Any opinions on 4DPO bleeding? It is too early for IB so maybe I am about to start AF? Is this the sort of thing I should be consulting my doctor about?

I would love to hear what you ladies think

I sure hope it's IB, but I've spotted that early before my cycle. So FX it's not AF and it's IB. Keep us updated

Thanks ladies It seems like too much blood to be IB really. It is so hard to say where the line is between spotting and light bleeding. I had IB last time around 7DPO and it was just light spotting (very little just on the toilet paper)

Oh well time will tell I am just feeling anxious.

I'm not much help, but if it's brown, then it's old blood. So maybe you O'd earlier than you thought and it could be IB?

If I Od earlier than I thought then it cant possibly be IB We were only able to DTD once on the day I thought I Od.

I am starting to lean towards a very early AF although a 5 day LP seems sort of crazy.

Well that is confusing! I had IB at exactly eleven days... So I also think that four days past ovulation is early for IB.

But, lets keep our fingers crossed!

Hmm this site offers some other explanations for spotting after ovulation. Just thought I would share in case anyone else is in the same boat as me

Spotting After Ovulation: 9 Potential Causes, Triggering Specific Light Bleeding

The options that stand out for me are:

1. Release of the ovum out of the follicle during ovulation may be accompanied by light bleeding that looks like spotting on a pantyliner.

2. Increase in the level of hormone estrogen may cause partial separation of the uterine lining.
Some medications (diet pills, for instance) may influence your menstrual cycle and provoke slight bleeding in its middle.

3. Vaginal or cervical infections and inflammation often have no pronounced symptoms other than spotting.

Note that brownish bloody discharge, pinkish or dark spotting in the middle of the menstrual cycle most often are provoked by hormonal imbalance, cervix erosion or tumors.

Spotting after ovulation is a tricky situation that should be cleared up with your gynecologist, especially in case it repeats from cycle to cycle. If pelvic floor ultrasound doesn’t reveal any pathology, your doctor will confirm that there’s nothing to worry about.

So maybe I should call up my doctor? Still thinking maybe I will wait a few more days and just see what happens. Any thoughts?

I hope it's IB. Last cycle I had spotting at 4 DPO all the way until my period came at 10 DPO. I have luteal phase issues though!

That seems like where this is headed, the spotting is just more and more - did you ask your doctor about it?

No, I usually have 1-2 days of spotting before my period. 6 is not normal for me, but I'm going in for a laprascopy and HSG July 16th so I'll tell her then and I should get some answers after those procedures.

I agree that 4DPO it way too early for IB

I would suggest either -
- irritation from BDing
- spotting from O (perhaps a bit late for this)
- UTI
- LP defect

It could on the other hand, just be one of those weird things our bodies do to us to keep us on our toes! I think you should keep an eye on it and if it carries on maybe contact your doctor if it does

I hope AF doesn't show up and I hope there's no more bleeding! I've never had anything quite like that.. just spotting and streaking. never clots!

Yup still spotting although the "clots" are gone. Now there is just brown spotting every time I use the restroom. Still not sure what to think. I figure if it goes all the way until AF I will call my doctor and see what she thinks.

you are experiencing what happens to me every month, but mine usually starts the three to four days before my period. Sometimes I spot some after we bd too though. I hope it stops soon for you. The fact that the clotting is gone is a good thing. I know when the heavier clotting starts that my period is coming or it has already started. My periods are lighter now than they used to be. Maybe that's because i'm in my late thirties.
