My doctor's office can't get me in for several days, so he gave me the option to go to an urgent care center, or to take a store-bought UTI test and if it's positive he has called in Macrobid for me to take.

I told him that we were TTC and that if my body is correct I'm 6DPO so a test wouldn't show it if I was pregnant.

The back ache didn't surprise him, but the cramping did -- he said the way I've described them, like dull aching, didn't sound like a UTI. He made it sound like it could be kidney stone-related.

Anyone ever take Macrobid? The only thing I'm seeing, other than it being safe to take, is that women get really stomach sick on it.

Sorry your doc cant see you for a while that certainly makes things more complicated! I have never taken it but many people have stomach issues after taking antibiotics largely because it kills the good and bacteria that help you with digestion as well as the bad. I suggest eating some yogurt every day you are on it and always taking it with a good sized meal and full glass of water. I also would not want to take any antibiotics until I confirmed I had a UTI. I really hope you feel better soon!!

I don't think I've ever taken it. All abx make me feel sick, I have a sensitive tummy!

Let me tell you... you'd know if you had a kidney stone. I've had 3, and 6 uti's in 2 years... kidney stones didn't come with cramping, the uti's did. Kidney stones came with searing back pain, bloody urine and a fear of peeing.

I hope you start to feel better soon!

Yes, I've taken Macrobid, several times. It's very common for UTIs. You'll be fine.
