So the last two days I've been trying to take my BBT. I am up a lot at night with the dogs so I figured it was impossible but I read that if your sleep for at least three hours you can take it after that so I took yesterday's and today's. Yesterday was 98.1 and today 98.3. Here is my question though.... I get extremely hot at night to the point where I sweat sometimes (I know gross right lol) so would that make a difference and make my Tom be higher than what it should be. During the day my normal temp is around 97.6 . I've tried reading up on BBT but its so confusing and it just seems like it all depends on your circumstances and how you sleep bc everyone is different any advice is greatly appreciated! Oh btw I'm around 10 DPO.

It is rough to take your BBT if you have trouble sleeping but it is possible. The most important parts when temping are to temp at the same time every day, not moving before you temp - just to roll and grab the thermometer not sit up or talk or get out of bed at all, and keeping the conditions as similar as possible (same temp AC, same blankets, etc).

It can be a little harder to see the trend without a BBT that measures to the 0.00 (example 98.14) but I did used to use one like you are using now and it did work however with the one that measures to the hundredth degree it is much easier for me to see my trends.

BBT really is not for everyone and it does stress some people out more than it helps so you just have to decide what is best for you. My advice would be to just give it a shot if you are interested and try not to worry too much about it. Just do the best you can and log your temps every day. Dont worry too much about any specific temp since what you are actually looking for is over all trends. Are you using an online service to chart your temps? If not I really suggest Fertility Friend it is very easy to use and has a free charting course that I found very helpful. Plus the App on the phone makes it easy to keep up with it.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I am not making any sense I will try my best to answer

It took me a couple of days to really find the perfect time that gave me enough sleep to temp in the mornings... first temp I did at 7 am... then the last 2 days I did 430 am which turned out to be better for me. I could temp and roll back over to sleep a bit more. I am still very new at it but so far i love it. Do you temp vaginally or orally?

Give yourself at least one cycle for trial and error. Finding which time works best, how to make the room most comfortable.

And find a way to make the dogs sleep through the night

Orally am I supposed todo it differently? Lol.... Ugh if only I could make them sleep through the night.... Well at least I'm well prepared for children lol. The one has anxiety ever since his brother from the same litter passed from cancer last year so he is on meds but they work, some nights and not others. Then once he gets up the one we adopted to keep him some company of course gets up....usually about 4 to 5 times a night it's very exhausting! Lol.... I think everything makes sense you guys are saying. I've been keeping the thermometer next to me so I don't really have to move in morning when I take it I think it usually around 730 or 8.

Orally is fine. Some people choose to temp vaginally because they breath through their mouth at night or have just found it to be more accurate for them. I have only ever temped orally and that works well for me. Temping at the same time is pretty important. Even plus 20 minutes affects my temperature so I set my alarm for 6:15 and I temp and then go back to sleep every day. I have been considering moving it to 4:30 too because I seem to wake up then a lot but 6:15 is still working for me. Just give it a shot and see how it goes for you!!
