Hi All, My story is I am 31 and have been TTC for about 6 mths. Before I started TTC I went to see a doc as my AF was irregular, after a couple of tests they said my prolactin levels were slightly elevated. They suggested I go for an MRI scan to see if I had a benign tumour on the pituitary gland, but thankfully I didn't. Following this as my prolactin levels were still raised they referred me on to an endocrinologist. She gave me a 3 month prescription of Bromocriptine (this should ensure I ovulate), which I have been taking since 30th of September. Since then we have been actively TTC. As high prolactin can affect ovulation, I bought ovulation sticks to confirm I was ovulating and the 1st mth (after taking Bromocriptine) with CB Advanced Digital they worked & clearly showed my 4 peak days. This month I used CB easy ovulation test (bought by mistake) & for the 7 tests I couldn't see a + result. This is the first time I have not been able to see a + result, from all past tests I normally ovulated on CD17.
On CD 23 I had slight spotting & just in case it was implantation I did a PG on Sat night and Sun a.m. which looked positive, since then the tests I have done have been negative. I am confused as to whether I have even ovulated this month or whether I could be pregnant? I should be due on Friday 6th December.
Any advise or thoughts would be really appreciated. I am slightly starting to get a little disheartened.

I'd go back to the doctor. I'd never heard of Bromocriptine until today, and I googled it and it appears it works best if you HAVE the tumor.

Get tested for PCOS. Get tested for everything under the sun. You may need to balance your hormones before you proceed more.. or you might need monitoring and clomid.

I really dislike doctors who say "here try this" and never give a game plan/monitor.

Hey plan4fate, thanks for the reply and reading the post!

I have been checked for PCOS and all clear on that front. In fact everything else looked grand, only the slightly elevated prolactin which hopefully is coming down. I think I am going to book a follow-up appointment to check the levels and to make sure I am ovulating for definite.

It can get so frustrating, but PMA and all of that

B6, Zinc and Vitex (aka Chaste berry). Sounds like a pretty easy fix. I've used vitex.. it has helped me get pregnant twice. Sadly I suck at taking it and hasn't helped my post O progesterone and I've miscarried. I'm giving it a try starting today when it arrives in pill form (I've done tea form prior).

Hi there! OPKs can be so confusing. A positive test doesn't actually confirm that you are ovulating just that you are having an LH surge so sometimes that can be misleading. Also so many things can affect the OPKs (how much you have had to drink, time, amount of dye in tests) that a negative result does not necessarily mean that you didn't ovulate. The only way to confirm is by taking your basal body temperature. I know it is hard but for now all you can do is wait for AF or take another test. I hope you get your positive soon!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions and tips. I did try Vitex for 3 months before starting bromocriptine, it did work and it did bring down my prolactin levels slightly, however I stopped taking it in Sept as I didn't want it to counteract the bromocriptine, (if this is even possible)?!
Momology, thank you so much for your post, I definitely think I will do the basal temperature testing next month! Really praying it works, but at the same time I am going to try and step back and stop stressing about it! I will keep you posted.
Thanks for your kind words
