I know that it is commonly accepted that you can't get pregnancy symptoms until a fertilized egg has implanted into the uterus; however, I've been reading studies about a pregnancy hormone called "Early Pregnancy Factor," which is evident 2 days after the moment of conception (2 DPO). The EPF is an immunosuppressant that is needed so that mothers body doe not reject the implanting zygote. Obviously immunosuppressant means cold and flu like symptoms can result when this chemical is present.

How many of you ladies have had cold symptoms right after O and gone on to get a BFP? When I was pregnant in August everyone around me was very ill with bronchitis and I was great then out of nowhere BAM, got sicker than anyone else around me (this all happened about a week before I foun out I was pregnant). I have not been sick since then, but last night I started feeling slightly run down and ill.

I thought this was interesting! They are working on figuring out how to use "early pregnancy tests" to detect EPF, which would be only 2 dAys past ovulation, how crazy! Let me know wha you think

TTC Cycle #1 - chemical pregnancy
TTC Cycle #2 - Chemical pregnancy
TTC Cycle #3 - RE consultation and blood work, normal HSG.
Cycle #4 - Planning on WTTC, but was surprised with a BFP 4/11/14. First beta on 4/15/14 @ 12 DPO= 154.2, beta on 4/17/14 @ 14 DPO was 459.1, beta on 4/23/14 @ 20 DPO = 6,195!

After 3 early losses I am cautiously expecting a Christmas miracle.

Our son, Roen Kitt, is due 12/21/2014!!!

If they keep working at it surely they'll come up with some test to detect the EPF. Thanks for posting

I have heard about this before but I have never had cold symptoms at all or really felt anything until at least 11 DPO and then it was exhaustion that hit first. That is really interesting and would really shorten the TWW

I believe the First Response Pregnancy Tests detect a variant of this factor. Which is likely why they have such a high "false positive" rate... except they aren't false, since the egg was fertilized.

I have a JM friend, who suffers from Hypermesis. Aka extreme morning sickness. She knows between 3 and 5 dpo she's pregnant because the nausea sets in.

An RPL friend gets a "cold" with almost every pregnancy.

I get nothing. LOL.

Interesting, but my concern would be chemical pregnancies. I almost rather not know, then to feel like I had a loss. But the 2ww is hard!

The reasearchers who did studies reported that it would be a helpful diagnostic tool for women who suffer "infertility." If they detect it then they know that your eggs can be fertilized but may suffer for
Not being able to have implantation. It will be helpful when they can apply it to women who had unexplained issues.

Jenny I used to feel that way.

Unfortunately with the way the medical system works, not knowing means you can go multiple years with diagnosed issues because you didn't want to know. Most of my chemicals don't make AF late, not knowing would mean my Dr had nothing to go on. kwim?

I never thought of it that way. I think in the medical field it would be a valuable tool. I thought the ladies were referring to something you could just pick up at the drug store like any pregnancy test.

That will likely be the end goal sadly. FRER says they can detect a hormone variant earlier... that got me thinking and figured out why I don't actually buy FRER's... I'd love to see the pink line.. but I don't need to know my body fertilized the egg and it didn't implant... I need to know it implants and doesn't stick. When they can give me something to pee on that tells me why, I'll buy stock lol
