I know a lot of doctors want you to wait out a few cycles that way they know how your body is functioning ovulating on it own and it makes it easier to pinpoint when you conceived. They usually will recommend you start pre-natals during that time as well, so you body get prepared to conceive. I don't think there are any risks if you conceive right away (heck many children are conceived while mom was still on the pill), but be aware that for most it takes a few cycles for their bodies to re-adjust, so you may not conceive right away (although a few lucky ladies do). Good luck and lots of baby dust.
P.S. Welcome to JM and the TTC #1 board - I am sure you will love it here!
My doctor recomended that I wait until I had 2 full cycles and good periods because my uterus needed to thicken back up. When you take bcps it thins your uterus out, so when you get pregnant you have a higher chance of m/c. I have known of women though to get pregnant right off the pill and have perfectly normal pregnancies...so it just depends on how you feel about it all. I started trying right after I got off the pill...now I am in my 3rd cycle of ttc (1st 2 didn't work out) and now I'm glad that it didn't happen because I have a better chance of having a healthier pregnancy now. Hope that helps!
First of all Welcome to JM and TTC#1. my dr told me that i didn't have to wait any certain amount time, but she did tell me to go ahead and start takiing prenatals, possible even before you really start TTC.
I also just got off BCP. My doctor told me that there's no harm in getting preggo during the first month, just easier to figure out cycle after a few. I think he also mentioned something to the effect of not counting the first three cycles as "trying". He didn't explain why but I think it has to do with the possibility that cycles may not be regular. My friend got pregnant the first month for both her kids and she never had any problems.
