My husband and I are TTC and I am trying to be really careful about what I put in my body now so that I don't find out that I'm PG and think back to all the things I did or ate that I shouldn't have. It will also be easier once I am PG to not have to cut back or avoid a lot of things. The problem that I have is I have had pretty bad acne since I was about 12 (now 21) and the only time we got it to clear up was right before my wedding and that took BCP's, two topical meds (one including sulfer), monthly chemical peels and laser treatment for the redness. I know I can't do all that once I am PG so I am being really careful about using ANY kind of topical medication and i'm not on the BCP's any more. Does anybody know of anything that your dr. said was safe to use when PG or TTC? I thought about using Tea Tree Oil but wasn't sure if it was safe. If any of you ladies could help that would be great. It would really ease my mind to know that I am treating my acne and not causing any harm to a baby possible growing inside.
Thanks again! Baby dust to all! (And a big sprinkle on myself too!)
Hmm...I haven't read on what is accepted by the docs, but i know that the tea tree oil does work. Microderma might work instead of a chem peel, and doesn't use any chemicals. Good luck, I'm not sure, I'd have to read up on it more.
also, if you have your foundation mixed to include green in it, that will counteract any redness on your skin...the Mac line in the malls can do that for you, and they are not tested on animals, and considered to be good quality.
You can use the proactiv stuff. That's what I was using (until I ran out). It worked pretty well for me, my dr. has nothing against it, and my little guy is doing great in there! Good luck, I hate pimples.
I was using the in store version of proactive (all the same ingredients) and it was kinda helping (a lot of dryness though) but I ran out and I wanted to stop because we started doing some unprotected BDing and I wasn't sure if it would harm the little critter inside (if there was one). I might start with the tea tree oil (kinda smelly but hoping it will work better without as much dryness) and if that doesn't help go with the other. Thanks!!
