I have been telling more and more people about our adoption plans and have gotten lots and lots of support from our friends and family. The one comment that I keep hearing, from several people that are still TTC is that they will try everything and NEVER give up on the idea of being pregnant. It just keeps rubbing me the wrong way. It's like because we have decided to adopt in order for our dreams of being parents come true, that we are giving up. I don't feel that way AT ALL... but it hurts me to think that there are people out there that might think that way about us.

I have certainly come to realize, and Brian has too, that we want to be parents.... that is our dream. We feel passionately that our child is out there, waiting for us.

I don't know, maybe I just shouldn't let it bother me.

I've heard almost the same thing....

"Oh, well that's nice, but you're still young, so don't give up on getting pregnant"

It's so rude and people don't even realize it. I'm sorry that you're having to deal with that.....

I'm already trying to prepare myself for all the dumb comments people are going to make now that I'm pregnant and we're adopting......we'll see how it goes...

Just know that this has NOTHING to do with you giving up.....like I said before, adoption is the "next step" not a last resort

Try not to let it bother you; some people don't get it-they think adoption is the "easy" way out-for us it was our last option. When you get really old like me, you stop caring what people think, and they don't give you their stupid opinions anymore Once you are a mom, you're going to love this baby, no matter where it came from

we have gotten those comments..i usually respond nicely but firmly that its our choice and adoption is never second best.
