I got a phonecall from Dukes (weve gone with Duke! lol) previous owner yesturday, and she told me that she had a bit of a problem. The pups are officially a month old tommorow, but the mom (a golden retreiver) had been rejecting them for about 5 days now.
The pups have very sharp teeth, there are 7 of them, all from 4 to 5lbs each, and aparntly, the mom just didnt want anything to do with them anymore.
She had left the welping pen,and was refusing to go anywhere near them. So,the pups have been on damp kibble during that time, and after a vet visit yesturday (he was dewormed),she (the previous owner) was given the OK to send the pups to their new homes NOW

I wasnt prepared, but I said yes and we went to pick Duke up today I was expecting him to be bigger, but I have no experience with bigger breeds,so I honestly dont know whats small, normal or huge with these...hell be a month old tommorow and he weighs 4lbs..is that OK? I have no idea!
Remeber his dad is a great dane..thats why I was expecting him to be absolutely huge!!

Anyway, although I have no idea what hell be like tonight, hes been very good all afternoon.Hes eaten, hes played etc.He used Ladys pee pad to pee on,3 times, and after I saw him sniffing around a little,I put him on there again and he pooped..so Im glad about that too.At least later on,I can use that by taking him outside when I see him sniffing the pad

Anyway,now for the pics!!!

Duke and me..he has the softest hair!!

awww Duke is just adorable!! I think the crib is a good idea with the bear might make him feel like he is near his mommy.

He's just too sweet! You're giving me puppy fever and I have way too many dogs already
He does seem tiny but he's still sooo young. Puppies grow so quickly so don't be surprised when he just suddenly shoots up. Especially since both Retrievers and Danes are large enough breeds. We got our latest puppy when he was 8 weeks old and he was 16 pounds... Duke may be just that or more in 4 weeks time!

The crib picture is just so precious, he looks so comfy in there

Awe! I am so flattered that you went with the name I suggested, even though I got it from a movie lol. He is so cute. You're daughter reminds me of me as a kid. I used to dress my cats up and put them in the same kind of crib. Come to think of it, they were pretty patient. The cat would actually stay there and sleep.

He's adorable. He weighs 4 pounds? He weighed more than my son weighed at birth...3 pounds. Well he's over 40 pounds now so that's water under the bridge. Anywho, enjoy your new baby..he's beautiful.

What a cutie he is!
Enjoy it while he is that little

Our dog got pregnant and had 7 pups (mom rottie, dad a lab mix) and they may seem tiny in the start but they grow up SO fast.

large breeds grow fast. the fewer the puppies the more they seems to grow in their mama's belly but if the litter was big there probably no room. I think he will now begin to pack on the pounds. He is very young.
