In any case, I don't pray, as I am Agnostic, but I hope she survives.
I find your post to be

I don't want to get into it, I don't want to ruin the thread. I just think people should wish her mother well and move on.

My mom was in a boating accident years ago and has suffered from dystonia, RSD, and fibromyalgia. She is in a massive amount of pain everyday and it's so hard to see her suffer. She refuses to do back/neck surgery because she doesn't want to risk being paralyzed or making her condition worse than it already is. Right now she is on pain meds (not much), gets shots, and gets physical therapy to help with everything. Will all of that being said, I really hope your mom is able to be helped through the PT and doesn't need surgery. Is she willing to try a different doctor if they insist she needs surgery? I understand she saw a great one before, but I wonder if she may be able to get a 3rd opinion. Surgery would be the absolute last resort for me. But I've never been through debilitating daily pain so I guess it's not a fair judgment or assumption for me to make.
Either way, I don't pray either so I will be thinking of her. I hope everything comes out for the best.

I don't pray but I will keep her in my thoughts and I hope everything turns out okay.

I, for one, don't have an issue with the fact that your mother has determined that paralysis would deprive her of what she deems to be an acceptable quality of life. It sounds as though she has thought this out. It isn't as if the method she has decided upon requires anyone to shove a hundred pills down her throat, she has asked that they discontinue her insulin. She should have that choice.

I agree with Stacy, except that I'll pray for you and your mom, and send some positive thoughts that way as well.

I'm not Christian, but I'll keep her in my thoughts. As someone who deals daily with debilitating pain I can understand how difficult it can be to have the will to go on.
