Did you want this to be a debate or did you just want to talk about it?

People will do some crazy things for media attention. What they fail to realize is the negative attention will do the opposite from what they expect.

ETA: I think this is really insulting to the people who have actually been a victim of real acid attacks. Their whole lives have been changed, their bodies and faces mangled... It makes me angry.

Stop requesting to close threads, and no... I don't think she's talking about this thread.

Amy - LEARN, we do NOT appreciate the closing of threads, nor do we want to post with someone who insists on every thread being closed!

And by we, I mainly mean ME as I will not speak for everyone else, but I feel the sentiment is shared.

I'm gonna ditto that. This is the heated debates board, whether you post in general chat or on the main board. Not everyone is going to agree with you ALL the time. Don't be afraid of "offending" people! Seriously, it seems like you (Amy) want to tiptoe around everyone and walk on eggshells to not offend someone sometimes. And then other times you get upset that people who disagree with you are being "mean".

Again, HEATED debates. It means we won't always agree, and we try to be considerate of each other for the most part, but we do vehemently disagree many times, and it doesn't mean that we don't like you (general you). It means that we are all individuals with different opinions.

Asking to close a thread is a bad idea around here on HD. Usually if threads are allowed to remain open, any people having an issue will find a way to resolve it. Sometimes closing a thread is the WORST thing you can do for the situation.

Amy, grow some balls! (And I am saying that in a helpful way, not to be insulting)

That woman has mental issues. That's crazy ****.

I hate closing and locking of threads. Unless it's completely inappropriate, I say leave it open. You don't have to worry about offending anyone here.

I was meaning the girls actions, not this thread. What she did makes me angry, it's not outright offensive to me, but it IS offensive to those who have really suffered legitimately for something like this.

How did this become about people here and not the topic? It sounds like someone else is in need of attention other than this woman who threw acid in her own face.

The woman (who threw acid in her own face) is obviously in need of some psychological and emotional help.

I knew what you meant. The fact she did it to herself which others have been forced to endure that.

That last post was to Amy since she addressed one to me.

Linzie...it was quite obvious that you were not talking about this thread. I am not sure where she thought it was about her.

I don't take anything by it. I think Amy thought i was really offended by it, and to spare my feeling and feelings of those who WOULD be really offended by it, she offered to close it. It was a nice gesture, just not the right one for the debate boards.
