So I've made the switch to a much healthier lifestyle and it's been going great. Only odd thing I've noticed is that some of the organic stuff I eat makes my tummy kind of upset and gives me the runs. Nothing real bad, but enough to make me wonder if this is kind of par for organic veggies and fruit.

I have been having a lot of organic bananas (seriously eating them like they are candy... 1 to 2 a day, as opposed to 1 every once in a great while). Had some organic avocados too, and some other meal stuff. Well today I was eating the avocado and right after I ate it my tummy starts acting up. It did this the other day when I was eating the other avocado I ate, and with the bananas too. So is this normal?!?

The only real food I've introduced to my system is rice and soy milk, but I didn't have any of that today.

So... thoughts? Experiences? I'm glad I'm eating healthier but my tummy isnt happy with me, lol.

I ate non-organic food for my first 20 years, I switched to only organic/natural foods years ago and I've never had anything like that happen, not even at the beginning. However, since you mention bananas I will say that an excess of bananas will make my tummy upset. I can eat 1 or 2 a day, but any more than that can make my stomach upset.

Maybe from eating more fruits and veggies in general? I know a lot of the organic foods (packaged stuff) I buy tend to be higher in fiber and have more whole grains. Either way you should balance out once your system gets used to the new style.

That's what I was thinking. Every time me and DH have changed our diets our insides have gone a little wacky. One your system gets used to this new style of eating everything should straighten up.

I now think it's soy milk. Prior to that I had soy milk, and my body was fine with the rice milk. I haven't had soy milk since the night before last and yesterday morning, before I posted. Last night it was fine, and today was fine. No problem whatsoever.

Well tonight I had a small thermos full of soy milk, and just got another glass when I noticed my stomach acting up again. Don't have the runs this time, but my stomach is cramping and growling really loud but I'm not hungry. It only started after I had the soy milk.

Hmmm **scratches head** I dont know what's going on, lol

You could be sensitive to soy or have an allergy to it. Anytime I eat too much soy, it makes me poo and my stomach hurt.

It could be just your body's way of adjusting to a diet change.
Good luck

Whatever it is, last night was hell I ended up looking up some sites on my phone last night while curled up in pain from hellish stomachaches and once again having diarrhea all night. Last night I almost threw up my stomach was so upset, and quite a few sites said these symptoms are normal with introducing too much soy at one time. Almost everything I saw recommended to slowly introduce soy products into your diet. I barely got any sleep last night because I was in so much pain, but I'm starting to feel better. Haven't really been able to eat because my stomach is so upset but I've been pushing water and that's helping. I am going to wait a few days and then slowly reintroduce it back into my diet, and if the small amounts mess with my stomach I'll concur I have a soy intolerance/allergy. No more drinking a lot of soy until I know that, because last night was not fun at all!

Yeah, my sister has a soy intolerance. She can have teeny amounts of tofu and end up on the toilet all night.

Hope it clears up with elimination (um, pun intended?)

I agree that maybe its a problem with soy. I have heard that soy is not to good for you anyways. If you want to stay away cows milk maybe you could try almond or rice milk and see how you do with that.
