Df's mum has just called and said that his cousin in New Zealand has just had a baby girl (Df's grandad first great grandchild) and called her Lily. Thats the name me and Df had our hearts set on Is it so bad of us to still call our child Lily???? I mean - she lives on the other side of the world and Df hardly ever speaks to her.

Not only that but my cousins wife is pregnant and her little boy is due next month. They are calling him Jack - my name again!!!!! We have got over this one though and have decided that our little boy will be called Alfie. I dont think i will ever want to call my little girl anything other than Lily - im gutted and so is Df.

I think you should use Lily anyway. I don't like naming kids after people, but trying to think about names it is hard for find a name (unless you make up a new word) that someone you know doesn't already have. If you have your heart set on it, I would still use it.

Oh I'm sorry that happened to you. I KNOW exactly how you feel!!! 2 of my friends stole my girl name and I'm still going to use it but different spelling. Maybe you can have different spelling?

Thanks girls!! Its s hard to think of a name as i'm a teacher and every time Df comes up with one he likes i say no because he/she is horrible as school or he/she is really silly!

Df is just as gutted as me but then said that he's not bothered and we will use it anyway. Im so glad he said that!

I'd still use it. I looove the name Lily, but we can't use it since DH's sister named her daughter that. if it was his cousin, I'd use the name, lol

That stinks, but I'd still use the name. I love the name Lily but my Dh doesn't like it.

My mom and my aunt both named their babies Andrew and they were born only 3-4 months apart. They were in different states though. Anyway, the Andrews both ended up loving the fact that they had the same name, they thought it was cool.

I'm sorry that your name was used! I would still use it though. Lily is such a beautiful name! In my family, all the boys were named Frank after my Grandfather (Italian Tradition). There are 9 Franks in my family (my brother, cousins and second cousins). We're all close but it doesn't seem to be an issue. They all have their own nick names too which helps keep them straight. LOL.
