do you girls rent your homes or do you own them?
What did you pay for it there??

we bought our house 2800 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1 more bed room in the basement, yard, trees, everything for a total of $ 128,000.. that was 3 years ago!

I just want to see if its cheaper in the States or in Canada.

We rent right now since DH is in the Navy and for now we're moving a lot...Hopefully in a few years we'll be able to buy because finding a place to rent that will take all of my 3 little furbabies is hard!

We own. My parents bought this house under my name my sophomore year of undergrad. We rented out the extra rooms to cover all the bills, so that pretty much paid the mortgage. When I moved out my sister was still here and they just plain rented the house out the two years neither of us lived here. When I moved back we told the renters they had to go, and I took back over.

It is a 4 bedroom, two bath, finished basement (one of the rooms and a bathroom are down there), one car garage with a pretty good sized yard (it is still a city yard, nothing like the 25 acres I grew up on), but when we bought it 9 years ago it was $68,000. It is probably worth closer to $90,000 now. We haven't had it appraised yet.

We rent.. with DH being in the Navy and all the moving we do it would be kind of pointless to buy right now... He's more than likely going to be a lifer too, so who knows when we'll own.

Subs.. he's on Limdu right now.. so what he'll end up doing now is kind of up in the air.

we rent.....due to DH's job. Our rent payments are like the same amount as mortgage payments around here for CA rates. It's ridiculous. I hate renting. We're wasting money and it stinks!! I cannot wait to settle down and buy a house, so we can have a home, a yard and I am anxious to want to paint and decorate how I want, when renting you really can't and it stinks. I am dying to decorate a nursery and here I can't. I want ot set up my photo studio too cause right now we have no room, I have to set it up in our bedroom when I want to take photos then take it down which is annoying.

We own our house. House prices in this area are very high. DH bought the house before we were married from his grandmother, so he got a deal on it.

We own...er well, the bank owns and we pay mortgage. We bought it last June for $183,000. It's huge though, 3300 square feet, more than we need, but we got a great deal on it for this area.

Its so much cheaper in the USA and Canada than it is here in the UK. I can't wait until we move to Canada!

We paid £106,000 (about $212,000) for a small 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house 4 years ago. The area we live in is ok but there are so many other places I would prefer to live. If we bought anything cheaper we would be living in horrible areas. We couldnt afford anything were we originally wanted to live so moved 50 miles away. The houses on our street are now selling for about £120,000 ($240,000).

We own a town house and rent out the other side. We both would like to move, but we have such a good deal going, it is hard to leave. Since we get rent from our tenants, our mortgage costs us less than $400 per month.

We rent, since DH is military. It's not feasible to buy a house everywhere we go.

Right now our rent is around 2200 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with no parking or elevator, lol

We own, we had it built in 2006. It was over inflated very bad. I ended up getting the builder to come down 50 grand. so we bought it for 220,000. 3/2 2 car garage on 1/2 acre. We have 1 neighbor and it was a great area till the bottom fell out of the market here. I just can't wait until we aren't upside down and we can move. We want to move to TN. I grew up in florida (close to Key Largo) and let me tell you. Florida is no place to live just visit and make money!

We own. It's a 5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath. One of the full baths and a bedroom are in the basement though. We bought a few years ago and had decided not to do a bridge loan. We had to pay 2 full mortgages and PMI on this house for 6 months It sucked at the time. We were dirt poor, but we loved this house and decided we were going to buy it no matter what. When we sold the first house, we were able to put the 20% down on this one, refinanced and got rid of PMI. We've refinanced probably 4 to 6 times since. I've lost count. We are constantly watching for rates to drop again.

House prices are high, but still reasonable here. They aren't like California. Our property taxes are horrible though. We're one of the highest in the nation when compared to property value.

Gosh you are all lucky. California is so expensive

We bought our house 2 years ago for about $400,000. It's 3 bedrooms and 3 baths.

They do and our house isn't even that big.
My parents have a house with a little over 2,800 sq. ft and it's worth over $600,000. It's just crazy. Our area isn't even that bad. When we lived in Northern Cali. our house was pushing 1 million and that was 7 years ago. It was also 2,800 sq. ft.
I am sure it is well over 1 million now.

Right now we rent, but we are planning to buy a house after we get married. I don't mind renting right now. It works for us.

We bought my grandfather's (that just passed away) last May. It is a 3 br, 2 bath on 1 acre. It has a carport and a workshop. We have had to put in 2 totally new bathroom (tub, sink, toilet, floor, sheetrock), 2 bedrooms needed new sheetrock (mold) and floors. It is 1200 sq ft. It only appraised for $19,600. So my aunt sold it to us. We've had to do tons of work, but it looks 100% better already and we aren't even done yet.
