SA QUESTION

Well, we are supposed to bring in a sample from my husband for SA. The instruction sheet says not to use any lubricant, but DH says he doesn't know how "it" will happen without any lubricant. Does anyone know if pre-seed or even water is OK. We want to get a good sample and everything, but we're just worried about getting it done. Any advice.?

Im not sure. I would say to just go without anything. If the results don't come back great, and he did use something, he would probably have to do it again, which would not be fun for either of you.

I wouldn't use anything since you don't want Pre-Seed, even though it is sperm friendly, to mess up the results. But maybe ask the doc if Pre-Seed is ok, it may not be a problem. I am sure they have been asked that question before, or the lab has.

I wouldn't use anything either. They measure sperm numbers per milliliter of ejaculate, so having lube, even sperm friendly lube would dilute them out and give you a lower number. I guess I could ask DH for advise if you really want me to. His brother is sitting in the room with us right now (watching stinking UFC) or I would just ask him.

Warning. Only keep reading if you really want to know what he said.

Ok, DH said to make sure he grips it instead of sliding along it. Also make sure he stays up near the head. Without lube the friction of sliding is what hurts and he will have to more yank than slide to get the sample.

I hope that helps him.

This is freakin hilarious, I take delight in knowing my DH had to go through a similar procedure when he had his semen analysis. How mean am I that I want to go tease him about it now!

Oh man, I hope I am not the only one that finds this hilarious. For all the poking and prodding we have to go through, at least our men have to go through some discomfort (even though they still get to have an orgasm with theirs).

Michelle- You are too funny! I got a little chuckle out of that myself (I know- I'm very immature LOL) But you're right- all the stuff women go through and then the men get to take a few minutes and essentially enjoy the end result!

OMgosh! I'm new here but I just had to post. We just had DH do a SA this past Tuesday and our ppwk didn't say anything about lube. I wonder if I should ask him if he used anything or not?? It takes a week for us to get the results back. All our ppwk said was just ejaculate by masterbation. I went with DH to the urologist and it was not a pretty sight! The doctor said told him (in front of me) "your hardware looks great, now I just need to see the software". I was about to DIE. I wasn't watching (pretending to read the latest version of US Weekly) but did mention to the doctor that it was only fair that men had to do their part too...since we ladies have to have everything examined!

oh oh im actually perfect to answer this question! im a lab tech and actually work with this everyday! Do NOT use any lube. and he needs to collect the specimen directly into the container that you were given. and be sure to get the specimen there with in the hour! good luck!

hmmm, i wouldnt use the lube. they want to see his sperm and nothing more or less. There is many ways.
My DH said to grip it so that it doesnt slide and it will be better. he never really uses anything..LOL..as there is no need to.. HAHA...

did they not tell you, you could do anything else?

You aren't the only one who thinks this is hilarious. DH has to get one done sometime next month and I am just cracking up and know I will be teasing him.
