I know most of you girls in the US will not know what I am talking about. But I am having a cheese and pickle sandwich for dinner tonight. I used to eat then when I lived in France not all the time but obviously more often than I do now. My sister lives near Cincinnati and there is a store there called Jungle Jim's. The have a section for each country. My parents went to visit her last weekend and brought me back some Bronston's pickle spread. (And some Kinder chocolate.) So I am having a cheese and pickle sandwich for dinner. Yumm

It is not actually pickles (like the dill or sweet n sour we have on this side of the atlantic) It is various veggies (I read the label to DH last night, carrots, cauliflower stuff like that in small cubes) in a sweet/spicy vinegar sauce. Then you eat it on a sandwich with extra sharp cheddar. It is so good. DH tried it again last night (he didn't like it last time I had some, but of course had to try again since I said it was good.) And last night he kept saying it tasted like BBQ sauce (I can kinda see where he gets that comparison.)

Here is the Wikipedia page on it Branston Pickle

I just about could too. Of course I started young. I (literally) cut my baby teeth on tooties rolls and dill pickles.

Cool... the cheese and Pickle sandwhich actually sounds good! I'd try it!
I know what you mean about pickles though- My brother and I would eat at least 3 huge jars a week of garlic dill pickles and then drink the pickle juice... Strange I know, but oh so good!!!

I gotta say a really good Garlic Dill is my favorite. I end up smellling like garlic for days at a time, but oh well! LOL. I live regular dills too. Bread and butter are alright when I want something sweet, but they aren't my favorites! DH isn't a pickle person, but he likes picked vegetables (carrots, green beans, cauliflower, etc)... It's an Italian thing called giardiniera and is awesome on a salad!

What are your favorites?
