Well, I got a little bit concerned because of the doctor's plan for clomid next month, and I knew I would have to be going for pelvic exams, ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc. and I didn't want to have to pay out of pocket for it cause I wasn't sure if we'd be able to afford it. Sooooo, I called my insurance company cause I was reading my benefits book and it said they covered infertility counseling, testing, and treatment 100% under the medical-surgical benefits and under major medical it would be covered 80% once we met our deductible. Insurance stuff is so confusing. But anyway, I got a really, really nice lady and she checked on everything for me. I told her I didn't believe our insurance would cover the clomid either. She put me on hold, checked, and came back with some very good news. She told me my clomid is covered and I'll only have to pay $6.00 per month.

Then she told me as long as I was seeing a doctor in their network and everything was medically necessary and appropriate, it would be covered 100%.

I couldn't believe it!!! How exciting.
When DH got home from work I told him my exciting news, and of course, he's not worried about the money part. He said we would do what we needed do and not to worry about that......I guess it must be the woman in me or something. We hardly ever use our insurance and when we did for doctor visits we always had to pay out of pocket for them, so I am just amazed.
I did check on my HSG and ultrasounds from a couple of weeks ago, and I can't believe the amount of money the hospital charged for that one day visit. Then of course, the hospital is in network so they contract for their prices. That day would've cost me over $1400 out of pocket, but since it was covered, the insurance only has to pay $400. I have a hard time understanding all this, but if you've made it this far in my little story, you are a true gem!!!!
