When it becomes more of a flow and usually redder. (Mine always began as spotting for the first 2 hours and then the flow began)

I got spot for a few hours or two days before AF shows. I think each person is different.

The difference between spotting and AF, as I understand it, is the point where you go from nothing at all or a liner to a pad or small tampon. For some reason I've started spotting the day before AF and then it goes to a light flow where it used to just be nothing and suddenly a medium flow. It differs from woman to woman and can vary from cycle to cycle. I hope this helps!

The only reason I ask is I sometimes spot for 4 days before AF arrives in full flow. During the days of spotting its some times red but I dont count it as AF.

Spotting can be red or brown. You're right in not counting it as AF.
