So my family always takes one really big trip every April for 7-10 days. We have done it for years. This year we were all going to puerto vallarta. Dh and i didn't book the trip or go because we thought i would be pretty far into a pregnancy. Well her i am in May and still not even pregnant. I was pretty annoyed about the fact that i missed out for no reason.

Well Next April my family is going to Aruba. We already booked a hotel. The problem is it's May right now and i am still not pregnant. So i am either going to go to Aruba with a very newborn child or go pregnant..or heck who knows maybe i still won't be pregnant by then What should i do?? We need to book air fair this week...

What would you do?

I'm sorry you missed out on this years trip If it were me and it were right now, I'd book the trip. When I first started TTC, I would have avoided it, but now that I've been at this 10 months with no BFP in sight, I'd say stop living in the "what If" world and live for right now. I've learned to stop putting parts of my life on hold for TTC.

Is there any way that you can get like a Travel insurance where if you need to cancel or reschedule your trip you won't suffer a major monitary loss? I'm pretty sure that I've heard of some places/airlines offering something like this, but I'm not positive. It may be something to look into!

I do hope you get your BFP asap, but I would personally plan on the trip... who knows what the next few months may bring!!! Good luck!

I remember you telling me about this......that's such a tough one...Hmmmm....I don't wanna say not book it cause what if you end up missing it for no reason again. here's what I would do....I would book it and get the travel protection insurance thing so if you have to cancel you get your money back, it's like maybe $50 a person. because after I believe it's 35-37 weeks or something airlines will not let you fly. since you could go into labor etc, and I think the rules are probably stricter flying to another country on a long flight. I don't think you'd want to go into labor on the flight or in another country. (I know you want to do home birth too) Another thing you may want to think about is, that if you have a baby say in February/March it'd be a few months old and the flight would be long, would probably be hard for you and everyone on the plane (I know people on planes are so rude to babies on short 2 hour flight so I can imagine a long one. wouldn't want people to be rude to you) And going to another country you'd have to get it a passport too (if it was born in March you may not get the passport in time to leave) Another thing I personally wouldn't want to be traveling/flying on a long flight to another country with a baby younger than 3 months. That's just my opinion and especially going to the beach I'm sure you'd both want to spend time on the beach and that'd be a lil hard with a lil one who would need sunscreen on 24/7. And you'd have to take so much extra luggage for the baby, the stroller, a pack n play or something for it to sleep in, cloths, diapers, etc. Just trying to help ya think of every lil detail. Hope this helped some. So I just recommend booking it witht he insurance thing, to see what hapens when the time to leave comes. And if you end up not going, you could always reschedule a trip there or somewhere else a little later too.

Good luck!!

Thank you both for all your help!! I didn't know you could get insurance on a flight. I haven't ever needed too. I think i will just do that. Plus the passport thing. You are right there is no way to get one in time. Even if i get pregnant this month we would still be pushing it. Thank you both for all your help. It's hard living in the "what if stage" You end up missing out on tons of stuff. Most of the time it doesn't bother me because i know it will be worth it in the end. However i love my family trips and would hate to miss out on another one unless i was for sure having a little one.

Thanks again for your help

yep whenever we're not 100% certain about a trip we always get the travel protection insurance to be safe. I know exactly what you mean about the "what if", but you're so right it'll all be worth it in the end!

I know we have put things on hold because of TTC also and it's no fun. I really don't want to travel at all when pregnant just becuase I know I will be a nervous wreck so we haven't planned anything because I keep thinking I might be pregnant.

I would definitely book it and get travel insurance like the other ladies suggested.

Book it!!! I go to Aruba every year - sometimes twice a year - (we're going in like 10 days!!!!)....and we took DS when he was barely six months old (this will be his third trip and he's barely two!).....I would have taken him even younger.....and...if you are preggo its a very nice, safe, and clean island. The drinking water right out of the tap is fabulous - they have like the second largest water treatment facility in the world so you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff like in Mexico. They have a great hospital - my mom had to go there once for something minor but said it was fab for Aruba....its a really tourist friendly island and you can find whatever you need anywhere....I would definitely not risk missing out on Aruba....if it were me....but its your decision.....Good luck!!!

I agree with the other ladies who are saying to book it & get the travel insurance. Plus Murphy's Law may then work in your favor. You could book it & then become pg soon after! Wouldn't that be the best reason ever to cancel a trip!!
And if for some crazy reason you aren't pg or have a little one by then, you can have a great reason to take your mind off of ttc for a little while. I've heard awesome things about Aruba! As a matter of fact, my DH's coworker conceived his son there! hehe
