Well girls, today was good. The doctor did an internal exam to check my ovaries before starting the clomid. We talked a bit and he told me to take the med CD 5-9. So Friday, I will start. Then he told me to BD with DH on CD 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. Doctor said he'll see me back at the end of the month, hopefully sending me in for bloodwork for a BFP!!! I think he could tell I was nervous, but he was great. He has a very good calming effect. Let me tell ya though, an internal exam during AF really stinks!! It was a bit of an uncomfortable feeling, but hey, I'll do anything to get a BFP!!
I picked up my clomid afterwards at WalMart. The doctor prescribed me 100 mg to start with, which I found odd, but I thought maybe it was because we've been TTC for almost 5 years, and we haven't been able to catch the egg yet. The lady at walmart asked me for my insurance card, and I told her I had called the insurance company already, and they said I would only have to pay a $6 co-pay. She found that hard to believe, as did the pharmacist, but said they would check into it. So, I sat and waited. Then, neither one of them came to get me, but another lady did and said I was ready to go. I asked her how much it was and she said $6......so I was happy about that. They really made it sound like that wasn't going to be the case, but I would've paid hundreds of dollars for it if I had to.
The doctor also gave me 3 different pre-natal vitamins (samples) to try out this month. He said to pick the one I like the most and they would call in a prescription for me. So, that's all that's new for me!!! Wish us luck!!!

That's great news! Hopefully Clomid does the trick for you.
Do you know what the difference is between starting Clomid on CD5 vs. earlier in the cycle?

Sounds great! I'm glad the Clomid was cheap for you.
I'm kind of dreading if I have to have an exam during AF but I guess you have to do what needs to be done and the docs have probably seen it all before.
I hope the Clomid kicks your ovaries into high gear!

I'm not really sure what the difference is....I think it's doctor's preference, but someone else may know the answer.
Thanks!

Yeah, the exam was weird, but I think it was more uncomfortable for me than the doctor. I'm sure he's used to all that; me on the other hand....not.
I'm hoping it works for us too. I should've asked him why he was starting me out on 100 mg, but by the time I realized it, he was onto his next patient. Any one have any ideas?

Michelle, you pretty much crack me up! I live in a pretty rural area, therefore WalMart is about our only option as far as pharmacies go.......but I have to ask, why do you hate WalMart and CVS? The $35 isn't bad though. When I wasn't sure if the insurance would cover it or not, WalMart told me $22 for generic and $78 for brand name.

Yes, I absolutely adore my doctor....he has a great personality, and he's really cute. It took me years to finally find one I like and feel comfortable with. My last doctor was a woman, I thought maybe that would help. But, I really didn't like her much in the end. I would really suggest to keep looking until you find one that clicks with you. DH actually liked him too. I am still amazed my clomid was $6.00. I know though if we have to go to IUI or IVF (not even sure DH would do either), that we have to pay completely out of pocket. But I'm thankful mostly everything has been paid for so far.

Good luck! I hope the Clomid does the trick! I don't know how you got an exam, during AF. I can't even stand to be bumped into below the waist during that week!

I'm happy everything went so well & $6 is not so shabby! Don't feel too bad. I've had my annual exam done while I had AF as well. I wanted to cancel but they told me to come in. I was like "No no.. I can cancel. REALLY..it's NO problem!" LOL But I guess if they're delivering babies and seeing far "messier" things, it's not *as* bad. Like you said, we're the ones who have the problem with it. But I did have worse cramping after that exam which wasn't so fun.
I hope the Clomid works & that you'll only need it for this month! Good luck!!
