Thumbs up. We plan to use only AIOs with covers and fitteds at night. I already have a ton of newborn bumGenius and Monkey Doodlez.

Sideways...I think it's a great idea, but if I'm still working I don't think it'll really be possible for us. I haven't researched them enough to really know which way I want to go.

Thumbs up because there is typically less risk of a rash and it's easier to potty train when the diaper isn't made to be as comfortable as humanly possible.
Thumbs down because they have the potential to be difficult to clean and I've heard they're more prone to leak.

Thumbs up on the concept. I watched a show on what we consume (maybe it was Oprah? 20/20? I don't remember) & I forgot how many diapers per child we use...think it was close to 4000!! But they layed out how many of each item of different things one consumes in a lifetime so you could actually visualize it...the milk, potatoes, soda (42,000 cans!), diapers, eggs (19,000), etc. It was astounding. Anyway...to see a pile of more than 3000 diapers was a little upsetting. And that's just one person! I really like the idea of CD but I just don't know if I can scrape poo. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! I think if I can do 50/50, it'll at least be something.

I don't think you have to scrape it. Once the poo is solid you can just shake it off into the toilet. If it's runny, I'm not totally sure what all the options where but I know one of them is that you can get a little sprayer that attaches to the toilet and just spray it off. Still kinda gross but not too bad.
Also you can use flushable disposable liners with the CDs. That way when baby poops you just throw away the liner that has all the poop in it.

Wouldn't the liners be like diapering? I know part of the advantage of cloth diapers is you don't have the diaper chemicals against the baby's skin. Still, I may use them for the next one with those liners! Cleaning up poo is not on my list of things I enjoy! You have to do it some day, but I see no reason to start scraping it off of things from day one!

I googled it to see about the liners. Here's some I found (I'm sure there are others) http://www.parentingbynature.com/flushable-liners.htm
It says that they are made from plant cellulose and whitened using hyrdogen pyroxide rather than chlorine bleach. So it sounds like you use them and still avoid getting chemicals on baby.

That's really great. Both of mine have such sensitive skin that if we change diapers/wipes they have a neverending rash. I know what I'm looking at if #3 ever shows up!

I think that is one of the great things about CD and using cloth wipes. It can really cut down on the rashes so long as you can figure out what laundry detergent will work for you.
That's another reason I'm pro cloth...I have eczema so I would not be surprised at all if I have a baby with sensitive skin.
