Thumbs sideways. I really dislike them, but honestly think my parents could have used this for my little bro. No matter how much they watched him, he always managed to slip away. He was a major escape artist.

Thumbs up. I've never used one, but I would if I had to. DD used to run away a LOT. I just got lucky in that we went out in large groups until she grew out of it. If it had been small groups though or just DD, DS and myself I would've had to get one. She'd try to leave with strangers because she was talking to their kids and didn't realize where she was going!

I say thumbs sideways. I think some kids just need them. But most would be fine with out them.

Thumbs sideways. I guess I would prefer not to use one, but I can see how they might be useful with certain kids and in certain (crowded) places.

Thumbs up. Its hard to dicipline a 13 month old (my niece) as they are still a bit too young to understand any punishment, and she is also an escape artist. Its safer this way. It allows them a bit of independance, you dont have to carry them or sit them in a cart.

Thumbs down. I have never liked the idea of using these, and thankfully, DF agrees with me about this. We don't plan on using them.

Sideways...I never thought of using them but Abby had a stage where she wasn't that easy to watch. We used ours only once when we went to the Children's Discovery Center because strollers weren't allowed and of course she needed to be able to explore. But usually she's in a stroller or shopping cart unless it's somewhere where it's easier to just have her walk (i.e. Starbucks, pet store, etc.).

Thumbs down for me...I don't object to people using them though, I know sometimes its necessary. At least with Bailey we haven't had to use one. She's pretty good about knowing that if she's not in a stroller or cart that she has to be carried or hold our hands.

Thumbs sideways. I can see the benefit of them. And actaully, my parents had ones that strapped to our wrists when we were little. We only used it when we went to the state fair, or Disneyworld, or somewhere really crowded like that. My sibs and I had so much fun with them! IDK why, but we thought they were cool.
Hopefully I won't need to use them...but never say never!

Hi girls,i say a definite thumbs UP for these reigns/harnesses.
If needed,of course, but i have been out with DF in the car and we have seen children running out into the road etc on a number of occasions we commented that they would be on reigns if they were mine.Like some of you say though,if your child is disciplined enough from you and takes a telling, then obviously youd not have to use them, but they are a good idea.
