Sunday DH surprised us all with a trip to the National Zoo in D.C. It was a great day and we all really relaxed for the first time in ages. Afterwards I got to thinking and DH and I got to talking. Just hours before he was supposed to do his test we decided against it. We know that it normally takes 6-12 months to get pregnant and my OB ordered the test after 4 months. She also wants to send me to a specialist early. I'm only 23 (24 on the 2nd) and DH just turned 31 in January. If we were older then we could understand moving everything up so much, but right now it just doesn't make much sense and we've both been stressing out so much about it. We also have stress from his mom being sick, my aunt (77) and uncle (60) are both fighting off cancer right now, and my mom has to sell the last family farm which has been in the family for hundreds of years. Needless to say we're under some stress! We've decided that it just isn't a good time for us to add more stress to our plates and we'd rather wait until closer to the 12 month mark before we assume there's a problem. I know that it seems silly to get so excited about the test just to change our minds. Really though we think it's for the best. If his results came back fine we'd be stressing over what's wrong with me until we manage to see a specialist which won't even happen if the insurance won't cover it. We'd rather just assume we're both fine and it's just taking longer right now. My parents had to TTC for over a year before I came along so maybe that's the way it's going to work. Who knows?

I think it's great that you and dh discussed it. If you think it's best to wait, then I'd wait. I think we all add too much stress to this ttc along with the stress in our everyday lives. G/L

Sounds like you're doing what's best for you. Hopefully things start to settle down for you and you can relax a bit. Good luck.

I agree. TTC is really stressful unless you happen to get lucky & conceive right away. But if you've been trying for any length of time it can take its toll on you. I'm glad you were able to come to a good decision for you & hopefully you'll be surprised with a sticky bean before you know it. For some couples, relaxing works best!

Thanks for the support ladies. Things should start calming down over the next few months. I don't really want to turn to medical intervention until we've been TTC for one relaxed year. Total, not full. A year is never completely relaxing! Rushing the testing is definitely the exact oppositive of relaxing.
