Thumbs down. Too many of them roll over easily, a lot of them are high up which makes putting car seats in and out difficult, the gas mileage is terrible, etc. Though my MIL does have an Hummer and I must say that I absolutely love the seat warmers in the winter!

Thumbs down, though I really love love love SUV's. I just can't justify the gas money. DH and I really like the Nissan Altima (the trunk of this car is seriously HUGE!!!- plenty of room for a stroller and 2 weeks worth of groceries )
The only way we'd get an SUV is probably if we have more than 2 kids. We both really dislike vans, so we'd go SUV.

Thumbs down because of high gas prices and because I feel more comfy driving something small.
That said, I would not rule it out if we had several kids. I think my Civic will work fine when we have one baby. Not sure once we hit two.

Thumbs up for me!!! We already have a ford explorer. And yes, it is a gas guzzler, but I love it anyways!! Plus, it's almost paid off!

My best friend has a civic...It's so cute and she loves it. She has 2 little kids and her 3rd is due in a few weeks. It's their only car.. So all 3 kiddos will have to fit in it I know for a fact it's perfect for at least 2 kids.

thumbs up!.. We need the cargo room! esp with 2 dogs and 2 kids (that we'll one day have) and having to drive to see Family!.. I'm looking more into Crossovers though so I can save a little bit on gas mileage but still have the cargo room.

Thumbs down for me, we have a VW polo, the bad thing is that it only has 2 doors, when we change cars I think weŽll either have a VW golf or a Skoda Fabia. I think weŽll have to put a roof box on for long journeys, but a big car is too expensive on road tax and petrol prices, also I think small cars are safer and easier to park.

Well when we have more than 1 child it'll be thumbs UP for me/us. Both DH & I have already had SUV's (his an Explorer & mine a Cherokee) and loved them & miss them!! So we'd definitely like to have one again. Before I bought my car, I was looking at the Hyundai Santa Fe and Tucsons. But we both LOVE the Nissan Murano and the new Rogue. At least the Rogue is a cross-over & I think that'll more than likely be the new family car when the time comes. I just cannot do a mini van.. sorry to anyone who has one. Just not us.

It's funny because i hear so many people say SUV's are MUCH safer then cars. But 2 people in this post said cars are safer then suv's. I am sure it depeneds on the car/suv.
I have never heard of a VW polo. Can i see some pictures My car was also 2 doors. Thats why we bought the SUV!!

We almost bought the Rogue They have a great starting price and they are really nice suv's!! We test drove a few of them.
I agree on the mini van

I think it depends on which aspect of safety. An SUV is much more likely to roll over than a car.
But in a collision with another car, an car will probably sustain more damage than a big SUV.
I do know several people who like SUVs for their kids because they put each child in the middle of each row and not up against a window, so they don't have to worry as much about side impact.
