I went to the er last night because I've had something going on with my foot. It's been red & swollen & in a lot of pain (near the heel & side of my ankle). I haven't even been able to walk w/my foot flat on the ground. Since I need to find a new PCP, I figured it'd just be easier to go to the hosp instead. People were guessing a fracture, tendonitis, insect bite.. you name it.

Well they ruled out a fracture (x ray & I was practically wearing a lead coat LOL) & they don't think it's tendonitis. So they figured it's some sort of infection and prescribed antibiotics. I told them we're ttc & I'm waiting to find out if I'm pg... well now after seeing today's temp, I know for sure I'm not, but last night, it still seemed there could be a chance. So they said they'd prescribe category B antibiotics which would be safe during pregnancy (Keflex).

But get this.... the dr says to me, "You're young & healthy. There will be plenty of time to have children. Right now, it's more important you get this healed". I didn't even have a chance to say we've been trying for TEN MONTHS now!! He was really nice & I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, but I was stunned to hear something like that. So now, I have a new phrase to add to my list of annoying things people say while you're TTC

I wish people wouldn't talk like that! Yes, you're young, but if it takes you three years just to achieve each pregnancy and you want more than one child you're looking at the larger half of a decade. Nobody takes the time to think that maybe, just maybe, it can take awhile. I don't know how you were nice about it because I would've snapped.

On a related side note I had something like that on the bottom of my foot once. I stepped on some weird plant in our yard that I'd never seen before and it had thistle style thorns. One of them penetrated my skin and caused that sort of reaction. I didn't explore the option of antibiotics, but I did keep cortizone 10 on it for a few days. It really helped a LOT. It didn't itch, it was just swollen and irritated. It may be something to try for relief, if the antibiotic isn't already providing it.

I know I want at least three and if it takes two years + to have one I don't want to waste any time

It's frustrating when people say things like that! I wish that they could just think it, not say it and move on!
I do hope your foot feels better soon though!

Ugg!!! Sometimes people don't think. Period. Young does not equal fertile. Relaxing does not equal pregnancy.

I'm sorry you had that to add on top of your foot pain. It sounds like you were given the same lead blankets for the x-ray that I got when I hurt my ankle.
I hope the antibiotics help and your foot gets better!

Aww that must hurt!
It must be in air because last fri my aunt went in foot dr to get hangnail removed & was placed on cephalexin antibiotics...THEN yesterday I had a mole removed and is on cephalexin for 7 days...now you....ugh we need cephalexin club LOL
I didn't know cephalexin is safe to take during ttc. I didn't tell the dermatologist I was ttc cuz I was on AF. It never occurred to me!

The remarks was rude! I would've said something rude!

Get better!

Thank you ladies! Awww.. everyone's getting mad for me! LOL
I'm feeling a little better. I've only taken one pill & it feels better already. When dh touched it last night in the waiting room I nearly went thru the roof. It felt like electric shocks. Ouchie.

Yeah, it was upsetting to hear..especially since my temp went down today. I know that AF is on her way so hearing that was like another kick to the gut. Ugh...what's 11 months? Who's counting?
I mean, I know 29 (in August..I've got another few weeks) isn't ancient, but in fertility terms, I'm not exactly in my prime. And as others said, if it takes this long in btwn each baby, I'll be an AARP member by the time I'm done! LOL

Wow, that would have seriously irritated me. I guess people just don't think sometimes. I just turned 30 and we want at least 3 kids. At this rate, it's not going to happen, so I understand what you are saying. My SILs are always asking when we're going to have kids. They think that we are both too selfish and focused on our careers. They never stop to think that we might very well be trying. Hope your foot feels better and that your next cycle is the big one!

Err, excuse me? I do believe THE MOST IMPORTANT THING RIGHT NOW IS TO GET PREGNANT! Umm, that's just my opinion though.

Seriously, it would have annoyed me. I do hope your foot feels better soon.

If I were not already changing REs because of moving, I would because he says stuff like that. I am 25 and DH is 26, and he always says how young we are. He does not want to rush things.... we are so young. He is an awesome RE if he could get over that.

Good luck, Diane! I hope your new RE will be more considerate in what he/she says!
