The Story of Becky
I was born and raised in a very small town (population of 300) about 60 miles southwest of Kansas City. I grew up as a tomboy - due to having 2 older brothers. My dad worked for John Deere for 25 years and my mom stayed at home until I was in kindergarten then she worked in catering and food services for schools and a university in the area. As a kid I was very involved in 4-H as well as gymnastic and dance. I like to think that I'm a combination of my brothers - ornery but smart too.
In High School, I was very involved in school activities - mainly because it was a small school and you HAD to be! Anyway I was a cheerleader, in volleyball, did sports management of girls basketball, was in the Pep Club, Forensics, Drama Club, Student Council and Band/Orchestra. Since I went to a small school - I knew I wouldn't do well at a large college - so I decided to go to a private college about 30 minutes from my home. It was far away enough to be independent, but close enough to my family when necessary. I joined a sorority (not your stereotype kind) and made alot of close friends who helped shaped me into an adult.
The summer between my freshman and sophomore years - my brother (John, the one closest in age to me) was in a horrific car accident. He fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the center line, and hit another vehicle head on. He was life flighted to Kansas City where we learned that he had a massive head injury as well as other major broken bones. He was in a coma for 3 days and then confirmed he was 98% brain dead. With the help from our family, friends, and wisdom from God - we took John off of life support two days later and told him it was ok to go Home. This was a MAJOR turning point in my life. From that moment forward, I decided to live life to the fullest and do so not only for myself, but for my brother too. I spent the rest of my college years having fun and enjoying life and when I had time - I studied too!!

I graduated in 2000 with a bachelor of science in Business with an emphasis in Marketing.
I was lucky to have a job in place 3 months before graduation. My first job out of college was for a company in Kansas City called Gear For Sports - they are like a small scale Reebok or Nike - decorated apparel, mostly for sports (MLB, College, NHL, etc.). On the day of 9/11/2001 - I was in the break room watching the TV (like the rest of the company) and noticed a guy I hadn't seen before. A couple weeks later I was at the vending machine and he was there - he asked me what I was looking for. I said "something healthy - potato chips are vegetables, right??" He thought that was pretty funny. We started talking and he found out that I used to drive a Mustang, but just traded it in for a new car. He asked if I would take him for a spin in my new car sometime and I said sure. That guy is now my husband.
We dated for 11 months and then got engaged. We were married on 9/27/2003 - 2 years and 1 day from our first date. We bought a nice house close to work and settled in to make a family. We started TTC in April 2005 and found out that we were pregnant in July 2005. Bailey was born on March 30, 2006 and we are so much in love with her that it hurts. Currently I am working at a promotional products company doing marketing, graphic design, web design and program management. Most of the time I love it!
We have been trying to conceive #2 since November 2007 - with an early m/c in February.
(thanks for reading - sorry it was so long!!)
