My dh's sperm analysis just came in. His overall count was good, but the motility was only borderline and the maturity was low. Does anyone know what that means & if there is anything that can be done to help? They are sending him to another lab to have another one and if it comes back the same, they will refer him to a urologist. My doc didn't have any further info on what could be done.

We've been ttc for 9 months with 1 early miscarriage. Could the poor sperm maturity be the cause of the miscarriage?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lisa

Sometimes the solution is as simple as switching from briefs to boxers or not setting a laptop over his equipment. The urologist will be able to do some simple tests to determine what needs to be done.

My DH has a low count and motility. Sperm issues can be one reason for m/c. He switched from briefs to boxers and we were a lot more careful about our BD timing (absolutely no sooner than 48 hours apart.) Depending on why he has the low motility there may or may not be anything they can do. Of course his urologist will determine all that for you. One of the main testicular problems that is fixable is an abnormal blood vessel that allows too much arterial blood down, which increases the temp in the testicles and decreases the normal productivity. That can be surgically corrected. Supplements and things along those lines may also help. My DH was taking a Men's One a Day, and drinking 8oz of OJ and V8 every morning, along with a good diet and regular exercise. KUP on what you find out.

I wouldn't think that your DH's sperm issue would be the cause of the m/c. I believe most m/c are due to a chromosome issue with the baby.

I don't know much about male infertility....but wanted to say Good Luck!!!

DH already wears boxers - always has & he avoids hot baths. He does work in the heat & we can't really change that. It is weird that DH & ex wife had trouble conceiving too. His ex had PCOS but was put on Clomid. She got pg once, but ended in miscarriage. And I've had the 1 m/c so i was just wondering if there was any connection. I'm so depressed about this. DH's insurance isn't very good. It has a 1500 deductible plus they only pay 80% after that & I don't know it they will cover something that is for fertility issues. So, I don't know if we can afford a surgery if it's not covered.

The urologist should be able to give you answers. I don't have any experience with male infertility either. Good luck!! Hopefully, the insurance will cover whatever the doctor deems necessary!
