Hi,

Just thought i would ask this question...
Do other women ttc buy baby stuff??
Or is this just me?!
I actually have a bag under my bed containing
a mix of baby goods, a few teddies...snow suit
and other bits and bobs.
I suppose by buying them it makes me feel slightly
like am gonna be a mum one day.
I have been trying with my bf for 18 mths now
and in that time have bought a lot of pregnancy magazines too...
Am i just weird doing this?!
Or is this common amongst women ttc??

Thanks!

Sarah

Hi, Sarah! Welcome to JM and to the TTC 6+ Months board!!!

I KNOW that a lot of women buy lots of baby things. I think that it's totally natural, thinking that you WILL be a mom one day and you NEED all the stuff you can get when you can get it...why wait, right? I think that's the optimistic approach and SO nice. I'll admit that I'm the opposite. I don't want baby things around becayse we've been trying for 2 years and I keep thinking that I'm going to jinx it. (I might not feel this way if we'd just never gotten pregnant, but we've had a few losses.) If you see a good deal, go for it!!!

Mind if I ask what the cutest thing is? (I love baby stuff...)

Good luck, and again, welcome!

Glad to know im not goin crazy!
I had a loss when i was 17 but i was not trying then.
I was young and foolish and only a couple of wks
was sad at the time but now believe it was not meant
for me so young as i was so immature really...
It must be so hard to have a loss when actually trying for a child.
I would be devasted

Anyway onto happier things...
The cutest things i have are a newborn white snowsuit
and a beautiful baby micky teddy from euro disney
from when i went with my bf last year(had to buy it for future baby as so cute!)
I am lucky enough to have a friend who has had twins yesterday a boy and a girl
and tomorrow i am going to get them a cute outfit each which will be lovely to do

We started buying baby stuff a couple of months before we started trying to get pregnant- back in 2000... well a couple years ago, I realized I had A TON of stuff.... so we packed a lot of it up and donated it- clothes with tags still on and everything. some i gave to a pregnant friend. but she had been buying for a couple years too, so even she had to get rid of some things!
I kept my favorite things, and I still buy things, but I am much choosier now.
I have a rocking zebra, some stuffed animals, a baby robe, towel, receiving blankets, and some cute outfits.
I also already subscribe to a couple of parenting/pregnancy magazines, and buy books about raising kids/babies, and about being pregnant.

Thanks Ladies for feedback
i am happy that its not just me buying baby things.
Sometimes i almost feel like a fraud when i buy which is weird.
I suppose its been so long ttc that i feel like am never gonna be a mum...
In my heart i know i will be one day though. You can never lose hope
cos then what have u got?!
I pray for all of us that we are blessed with a healthy baby soon
and then the stuff we have collected over the mths will be of use
and the countless baby books and magazines we buy will make us
really knowledgable parents wont they?? ha.

Good luck hope we get BFP,s soon! xx

I have to admit, I buy stuff at garage sales when I come across them. But it's more practical stuff, and I usually think, "I'm going to need this anyway." I bought one of those strap on baby carriers that is like a backpack, but it goes on your front. Don't know what that's called. Anyway, it's so cute. And then I found this really *awesome* stroller, which would normally be $200+ new, and bought it for $25, so I figure that was worth it. I did feel kind of embarrassed when the lady who sold it to me asked me how "far along" I was, and I had to admit I wasn't even pg yet.

I also have a couple of parenting magazine subscriptions, which were my DH's idea.
