That is great. I'm happy that everything worked out for them....what a scary situation to go through though.

I heard about this after she was "born"

What an amazing story of hope! I'm so glad that everything worked out for them. Miracles DO happen!

I'm so glad that our medical center has some of the best hospitals in the country!!! It allows them to save precious lives like little Macie's. That is so incredible that they can do that. Go Houston and our awesome doctors!

You really can get great care so easily here. I know several ladies who had their babies in the med center that were "high risk" (including Astrid) and they were all very well taken care of. It's amazing what they can do.

Yep!! That's why I plan on switching OBs to one that delivers in the med center because I would rather be smack dab in the middle of the med center if something went wrong than over 30 miles away at another hospital and have to waste precious transfer time.

I had my cancer treatment (radioactive iodine) through the med center, as well as, my surgery and care, and I was treated so well by the entire staff. Even my second biopsy was an incredible experience. I know, sounds silly, but it was.

I would prefer to stay with my OB locally because I like her so much and the fact that 30 miles (that's how far I am too) is not bad when there's no traffic, but when there IS traffic, YIKES. I'd hate to have to deal with that for all my appointments, BUT if I end up being high risk in any way, I will definitely be in the med center!

I'm glad you had a "good" experience. Dealing with something so scary can be made a little easier when you have a great team treating you.

I love my current OB, but I'm not so sure about the hospital she delivers at. It is also well over 30 miles from my house. So, either way it doesn't make a difference which way I go mileage. Traffic both ways can suck. I have until I'm 12 weeks to make my final decision when I'm released from my RE, but I just have a feeling that at least for my first baby, I want to deliver in the med center. I'm just paranoid that way...lol. That and I have an excellent referral for an OB in his practice from a friend who used her and LOVED her. So, we'll see.
