I just found out the probable reason for my inability to conceive was my husband's poor sperm count. He FINALLY consented to getting checked after all these years. Now, it is probably too late.

Is there anyone else here whose problems seem to be with their DH's?

I am very upset, because I have been blaming myself all this time (our baby was 6 years in coming). I guess he is a miracle baby, if things were this bad 2 years ago.

I needed to vent. Sorry.

yes my DH had testicular cancer+radiation therapy. So he had a SA done. I don't know if you have a copy of our DH report but here's mine:

DH results reference range
semen volume 2.0ml (1.5-5.0ml)
sperm/ml 68.8 million (>20 million)
%abnormal 60 (<30)
%motility 90 (>60)

So even though he had a significantly high amount of abnormal (proabably d/t radiation) as the dr. put it "it only takes one" and we got our BFP this month using Preseed.
Good luck to you!

I know what you are goiong thru my dh has had his s/a and we were told his sperm count was low, but the dr said to use at the time that it wasnt inpossible to conceive can just take us awhile. Well a while is still happening. So dh has started taking fertility blend for men, its suppose to help with sperm so we will see if that helps us. I am sure there are things your dh can take maybe zinc vitamin C and maybe fertility blend would help. HTH

Thank you! I will check into these things.

I am just still mad about having beaten myself up all this time. When a woman doesn't conceive, it is natural to think it is her fault. I just wish I had known this years ago, when there was still time. I could have saved myself a lot of money and mental anguish.

We still managed to conceive a little one, long after I'd given up hope. But, as I said, it took so long that if it takes that long again, I can forget it...I will be menopausal by then.

DH never suspected, because we'd had no problems when we were younger.

Thanks again.

Sperm count CAN change, though, with just a few helpers. The Fertility Blend Tea for Men, I've heard, is a really good idea. Getting his vitamins, hydration, making sure his parts are cooled, all that stuff. It may not seem like leaps and bounds, but maybe that little bit you increase it by has the sperm that gets in there!

DH hasn't had his done yet, but he's perfectly willing. We both know that I can get pregnant, but there seems to be a problem keeping them. I'm sure, though, that his sperm count is much lower than it could be, because of his health habits. I hate to admit this, but even though it's a simple fix, it might be MORE frustrating if the problem lies with the man because we can't ensure that they'll take their vitamins, drink their tea, cool their cajones, and all that stuff. We could nag, but that doesn't really lead to the best conditions for baby-making, either, does it?

Good luck!!! I would definitely look into seeing what you can do to increase it, and, of course, you may want to go by the book, have sex in the missionary position, lie there for a while, etc...can't hurt, right?

Thanks! My DH happened to be doing Atkins when I miraculously conceived Nate 2 years ago. I read somewhere that eggs can be helpful to sperm count, but who knows...

I wouldn't advocate to continue eating like he was, but now he had gone totally organic, and eats more like a rabbit. I've pestered him to at least take a multivitamin for some time now, but he insists that he eats well enough. (I beg to differ).

The specialist his results were sent to told my new doctor that he might consider IUI with me, despite my age, because my bloodwork showed things were still working normally, at least. I didn't want to resort to that, but I am up for anything at this point.

I'm surprised he didn't suggest to her that I have DH try to improve things on his own, because otherwise, I have a very slim chance of this even working.

Why can't everything be easy...

BTW, I've tried to prop my behind up with pillows for at least 20 minutes after, but if there's hardly any tadpoles in the stream, I doubt if many make the trip.

Thanks for the advice.
