This is the first month I have ever charted. We have been ttc for 7 months now. I always assumed I o'd on day 14, and that is when we tried. But this month of charting, FF said I didn't O until day 20!! I have 27-28 day cycles like clockwork. I never dreamed I O'd that late! Which makes me excited to try to BD closer to that time frame, and hopefully get a BFP. But here's my question. I don't know a whole lot about the LP phase, but read that it needs to be around 14 days long. Well if I AF ciomes on the 27th or 28th day like expected , that will give me a 7-8 day LP. Any opinions or comments on this??

Do you have a link to your chart? I would like to take a peak at it.

If you truly have a 7 or 8 day LP...that is definately an issue. That is not enough time to allow for implantation. Luckily, it is a fairly common and fixable problem.

I second the looking at your chart. That would make it easier to understand.

Do you have a documented 8 day LP, or could it be that you jsut O'd later this month for some reason.
I used to have a 9 day luteal phase, which my (old) Dr said was borderline and he woudln't do anything about unless we had been TTC for an extended time. I started taking Over the Counter vitamin b6 and it went to 11 days, although I do still get an occasional 10 day one. I suspect that at my next appointment, I'll be put on a progesterone supplument, which is the standard treatment for a short LP.

i'm sure that if yours was truely less than 9 days, your Dr would be willing to start progesterone immediately, being that implantation usually doesn't occur until the 2nd week of the 2ww, you would be shedding your uterine lining before there was time for the egg to implant.

Since this is the first time charting, I don't know if o'ing on day 20 is normal for me. If I start on Friday like expected, it will be 9dpo. My yearly gyn apt is next month and was waiting until then to talk about my problem ttc. We've been ttc for 7 months now. I wish I had started charting my BBT earlier!

Alisa- your link doesn't work for me - it just takes me to my chart. To get the correct link, click on the "Sharing" tab on the left side of your FF page and then click on "Home Page Setup" The link below "Your Charting Home Page Web Address:" will be to your chart. Or you can click on the Sharing tab and "tickers" and it will give you the link to put within the IMG code brackets to put it in your siggy.

I have "normal" LP, but I start spotting at least 5 days before AF arrives so there is something wrong there too. I just can't get my doctor to run tests yet. We will see what happens this cycle and then I am putting my foot down.

Sava-Angel, thanks for the help... can you see if it worked? Hopefully your Dr. will step it up! Did you have any trouble when you got preg. w/ A.J?

Becky, I think I finally figured how to post a link to my chart I never realized how complex our cycles were. When we decided to try to get pregnant, I thought it would happen the first time we did it without protection. LOL little did I know!!!! I'll take my chart with me to my apt in Aug, and hopefully get some help!

This is me!!, I have 35 day cycles, and this is my first charting cycle. I assumed I Oīd CD21 (14 days pre AF) but FF says CD 27, leaving me an LP of 8. I hope this is our problem, as it seems relatively easy to fix.

I hope it's easy to fix! I just wish I had started charting sooner! How long have you been ttc? Are you going to the Dr to talk about it now that you have charted? Let me know what the dr. says, and I'll keep in touch too. Good Luck!!!

Its one of the biggest secrets - getting pregnant is NOT easy!!

Going off of your chart, I would say that you did O around cycle day (CD) 20. I used to O between CD 18 and 21, but had a longer cycle than you.

I would definately bring this chart with you - your doctor might want you to chart a couple more months to get a better picture of things. But if you're LP truly is that short, they can give you several things to help. As Casey mentioned, B6 helps alot of women. I would bring that up to your doctor.

I take B-12 shots every other week for anemia, does that count?? I'm not sure what B-6 does.

Glad I could help.

No we didn't have trouble with AJ - were weren't trying/weren't preventing. It was the first month off the BC pill (after missing a couple the last month). This is why it is driving me quite insane! LOL

Yes, B6 is different than B12.

Honestly, I don't know what it is in B6 that makes some women's LP longer...but I'm sure someone here knows or we can google it!

Alisa, we are ttc buddies!. We started ttc in November, and I also have pernicious anaemia, and need B12 to help absorb iron. I also take iron supplements and vitamin C and K injections. (Vitamin K annually and vitamin C if I have a low count).
After reading sava angels link, I think I will buy some B6 supplements. I also take a B vitamin complex daily (iīm surprised I donīt rattle when I walk) as I am vegetarian. But as your body canīt store them, I suppose an overdose is impossible. I am quite hopeful that this is the reason.

Well I'm 10 dpo and on cd 30. I've never gone past cd 29, so thats a good sign for me! I guess I don't have to worry about a short LP anymore, since 10 is relatively normal right? I'm expecting to start any second, although I don't have cramps and have been nauseaus all day..... we'll see.

sam are you testing today??

I think 10 days is okay but they don't want it any shorter than 10. It still would be better if you could get it to around 11 or 12 days though.

Good luck with the B6. I'm glad your LP isn't as short as you were afraid...10 is much better than 7 or 8!

It is definitely possible to overdose on B6! Anything over 100mg is considered to be pretty dangerous- it can give you numbness in your limbs amoung other things. Most girls I know that take it to lengthen a LP don't take more than 50 or 100mg per day.
