For those of you buying large quantities of gifts this season (or, for those of you who shop for birthdays or other occasions, too), do you do most of it online, from catalogs, or in the stores? Have any tips for those of us still searching for the perfect gift?

Well, for all of my out-of-town/country gift recipients, Amazon is absolutely fantastic. They have a little bit of everything, they giftwrap and they ship...100% hassle free!

For in-town recipients though, I usually shop all year round. Anytime I see something that I like, I buy it. Then, in November, I go through the gift closet and see who I still have to buy for. Then, if I find I still have shopping to do, I try to do it online first.

Who are you searching for the perfect gift for? (age, sex)

Um, everyone. The people I have left to buy for aren't typical. One basically likes only techie stuff, but he HAS it all!!! He has also asked for slippers every year, but he already got those. The other (we drew names) is especially difficult. His parents are wealthy and buy everything for him before he even knows he wants or needs it. The kids, I just buy stuff as I see it because they're ALL different and they're not too difficult. DH and I are going to Vegas, probably, as our gift to ourselves, but I might still get him something small and I'm not too worried about that. My sister is easy to buy for if I can just get out and DO IT. I already bought her stuff, but then I gave it to her. Hehe.

For everyone else, we're making little baskets. An ornament, chocolate/caramel/etc. pretzels, choc/caramel/nut covered apples, cinnamon/sugar nuts, and something...TYE DYED!!! Hehe. Something small and silly. We drew names to keep the cost down, but I just can't help but WANT to do something for everyone. This will be special, but small, so no one should feel too guilty about it. The tye dye, we just thought would be fun. My sister and I are going in together to do it. Underwear, napkins, hats, gloves, scarves for dogs, etc. Silly, huh?

I'm going to Billings (ooohhh, the big city) tomorrow with my sister to shop for the 2 difficult people. Wish me luck.

I was asking because I was curious. My MIL buys everything out of catalogs and online. They don't leave the house much. They said they weren't buying stuff for everyone, but they have LOADS of gifts!!! Already wrapped and everything! (This is unusual for them...hehe.)

I do a little like you, Jacquie. I buy all year long, but I have a tendency of giving right after I buy. The reason I do this is morbid. Oh, well.

I like the Amazon idea, but I LOVE wrapping!!! It's 75% of the fun for me. Weird, I know. Still...I might do it for the ones who don't care at all--the ones I know just want to get to the gift.

hahaha, I always end up getting my sister a lot because I give stuff to her early too!

And if I had known you like wrapping so much, I would have had everything shipped to your house Actually, usually I enjoy wrapping, but this year I just don't seem to have the time
