I'm just wondering if any of you have been to the doctor about the lengthy TTC journey you are experiencing. Are you waiting until you hit 1 year before you seek assistance or answers...? Or have some of you looked into it earlier, or at least know whats causing the delay? Male/Female issues?
A month before we started TTC, which was in January of this year I went in for a pelvic ultrasound. I have some weird abnormal bleeding and wanted to see what the deal was. No pain or anything abnormal with my periods though. So after that, they told me that it is possible I have mild endometriosis. She said she could only diagnose me with a lapo surgery but mine is so minimal that I should not worry about it until we have been TTC for one year. When we hit 6 months, she advised looking into getting a sperm analysis...just to make sure. Right now, we are praying that month number 7 is it for us, and that there are no problems!!!
What about you??

I have an appt with my OB to discuss a lot of things in a couple weeks. I saw him in April and he had said see you in a year or when you get pregnant. But I am going in anyways.

I've been to my OB/GYN to discuss everything.. I had bloodwork and a transvaginal ultrasound done, he wants me to make another appointment soon, I'm just waiting to be in the middle of my next cycle.

I made an appt. with my midwife to discuss things after my m/c. I knew something wasn't right. They did bloodwork right away and found out about my progesterone issue. We decided to try Femara for awhile to see if it helped. Luckily it did...otherwise I believe we would have waited until the 1 year mark to do further testing.

I didn't wait a year to call my doc because my charts clearly showed late O and short LP. I ended up getting prego and miscarried before I had an appointment to check what was going on. I had to wait 3 cycles after that before my doc would do tests or start me on clomid. At that point I was over a year.
I would suggest not waiting a year if you're over 35 and have been ttc for 6 months. I would also suggest not waiting if you are charting and your chart clearly shows something is not right.

I haven't sought any assistance yet. DH and I got pregnant very quickly the first time (the 2nd month). When I got pregnant then, I was a good 25 lbs lighter. I'm working on getting back to that weight (or better). If I still haven't gotten pregnant by a year, I'll go. I turned 33 April, so I'm feeling very close to that "35" mark.

We are going in September for an appointment. I am about to start cycle 12 and my OB won't do anything until a year. I am not sure what they will do then.

My RE reccomends 6 months for anyone, and seeking help right away for over 35.
I'm of course already doing medical assistance, but recurrent loss is a very different issue then infertility.

I waited only 6 months after my m/c because I knew something wasn't right...I got pregnant right away with my son (we weren't trying )and got pregnant the first month we TTC #2. So, at the 6 month mark, after charting, using OPKs, etc, I went in. I was kinda worried that there might have been issues after my D&C.
So, after doing a HSG and dh doing a SA, we found out that dh has very low sperm count. We were quite surprised and were not expecting that AT ALL because he has already gotten me pregnant 2x!! So, the moral of this story is...I am soooo glad we didn't wait a year. We now know what the problem is and we can do something about it!

Hi there... I'm more of a lurker around here, but thought I could add my situation and input: My dh and I have been TTC (my #2-my daughter is 8 1/2) (dh's #1) for 1 year and 2 months!!!!! UGH. I sought help from Reproductive Endo at 1 year. All tests came back NORMAL, including dh's SA at 50 million and my HSG was completely clear! I got pregnant that month and had very early miscarriage. I've had hypothyroidism for 10 years now and my levels have been up/down which can cause infertlity....now it's in normal range. I didn't chart, and occasionally used OPK's which always showed a +. The only test I didn't have done, dk why, was a progesterone.
Diagnosis: Unexplained Infertility. The treatment is Clomid + IUI. We declined. I'm not fond of the idea of meds plus being inseminated when there REALLY is no reason why we CANNOT conceive, ya know? We are pushing on and are determined. Month after month of BFN's can be depressing, but it has brought my dh and I closer together...that's the positive side of things in a tough situation as trying to conceive since both partners are involved.
I have heard most dr's won't see u till 1 yr mark, but I would ask around for a referral. Have u done OPK's? I would suggest getting a physical... maybe requesting blood work and thyroid tests. I guess that's a start if you can't be seen for infertility just yet and there may be an underlying cause that can be treated by general dr. Good luck!!!!

I just hit the 1 year mark and I saw my OB/GYN to talk to him about it. Between him, myself and my DH, we decided to give it another 6 months and go in by January if I'm still not pregnant. He also said that if I was really concerned that we could start now, but DH and I agreed to wait a bit. My Dr said that he has high hopes that we'll be pregnant soon and that sometimes with younger healthy couples, he thinks the 1 year rule can be a bit aggressive sometimes, but he also said it's up to the couple and their Dr. I think if you're concerned, you could call your Dr and see what they say.

I saw my Dr. after 3 months becuase I wasn't getting AF. After she blew me off, I got a second opinion and got diagnosed with PCOS right away. I started Clomid in March which was month 5 for us. I *knew* something was wrong, which is why I sought out help so early on.

I regret not seeing a doctor sooner.
Hubby and I have been trying off and on, mostly on, for 10 years. We would try for several months, give up and I'd go back on the pill to atleast regulate my very long cycles. There was a 7 year span where I took no means of BC and still didn't get pregnant. This year we decided to finally go through with it and get the help we need to get pregnant.
This go around we've been trying actively for about 8 months.

I talked with my GYN after 8-9 months because I was there getting a lump checked out. I can say though, that I feel like all this time until now was somewhat wasted as far as TTC. What I mean by that is that I feel as though we did not stand a chance. Since seeing an RE, we found out that DH's morphology is only 3% and that my progesterone was low. I agree that if you think there is a problem (irregular periods, short LP, ect...)
