Hi All,

I recently finished my first Clomid cycle (8/1). I went off the pill in January (08) and then my period didn't return. During the spring months had lots of blood test, MRI, ultrasounds, etc., everything came back normal. Went on Provera twice and didn't get my period. Saw a fertility specialist who said created a plan for me to start, with birth control being the plan to bring on my period first, if it didn't come back. My period came back in June (very light) and then a more normal one in July. I started 5 days of 50 mg of clomid on day 5 of that cycle. Then went for ultrasound and follicles were developing well.

Doc had me do an injection of HCG a few days after I saw him and then intercourse for the next two days. Now I go back on Thursday where they will do a blood test and possible another hCG shot. I was wondering if anyone else has done the Clomid with hCG?

Also does anyone know what they will look for in the follow-up blood test--I know it's not a pregnancy test this early. Also does anyone know why I might do an hCG shot again? (and I plan to ask my doc when I do in, but I didn't ask all the questions I should have last time--was nervous about taking good notes for how to do the injection)

Thanks in advance for anyone who has had similar experience and could give me some feedback!

I'm on Clomid, but I don't do hcg shots. I'm not sure why they would do another one during the same cycle. Sounds strange to me, but they may have a valid reason for it. I'd ask if I were you before triggering again. Good luck.

I have no clue about triggers or anything like that, so I can't help you there, but I wanted to offer you some good luck wishes and I hope that everything goes well with your appointment. I would definitely ask about the 2nd trigger when you get there!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

Wow, interesting....I did 3 rounds of Clomid with HCG shots to trigger ovulation....I have NO CLUE why they would want to do another HCG shot though. After my shot I had no monitoring at all until my cycle was completely over!!

Sorry I couldnt be more helpful! Good Luck and let us know what they say!

Thanks for the responses. I will let you know what I find out. I double-checked my plan and the blood draw is to check my progesterone levels and then they may have me do another hCG injection, but at half the dosage than the first one.

I'll update later this week. Thanks again for the responses!

Hi. Just wanted to send some good luck wishes. I'm on Clomid too, but not with HCG.

Sounds like they are checking your progesterone to see if you Od. If the progesterone is too low, they'll know you didn't O and may then give you a second trigger. That's my guess at least.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I would also suggest stopping by the TTC With Medical Assistance board, there are lots of very wonderful and knowledgeable ladies there.
