Thumbs up if the kid wants it for the first few months. After that, a child doesn't need a sucking reflex to calm themselves. I hate seeing kids walking with a pacifier. JMO.

thumbs down. I think children need parents, not pacifiers.

Thumbs sideways. I'd like to say my child shouldn't need it, but from talking with other moms, I'm trying to learn to never put yourself in a box when it comes to parenting. I would try without it, but would be willing to try if needed.

I am thumbs up. I think for the first few months it is soothing to them and is a great thing. However, my children wont have one for more than a few months...

Thumbs up. A pacifier is not a subsitute for a parent. I don't know anyone that uses them that way.

in between - some children need them and some don't. AJ was a pro pacifier baby. Though I don't like the kind that you have a pic of - AJ hated that brand. I like the newer Gerber ones that they say are good for breastfeeding.

Thumbs up if baby likes them. I like the idea of getting ones that are formulated for breastfeeding babies.

Thumbs sideways for me I am not opposed to them, but it depends on the baby...my son was never interested in one
I agree on not using it too long!

Some babies need the constant soothing, some don't. If my baby seems to need it, I won't keep them from it, but I hope they can be off of hem by a year or so.

I say thumbs up when they are infants. For the first few months they are fine to have. However, I have seen children still sucking on pacifiers when they are toddlers and past 2! That is a thumbs down for me.
