So just a quick update...keep in mind that last week we showed up for dh's urologist appt and they told us that we had to reschedule because the doctor was running 1-2 hours late.

So, we showed up this week for his appt, and then we wait about 35 minutes (not too bad...lol) before they take us back to the room. The doctor comes in after about 10 minutes and introduces himself to dh but doesn't even acknowlege me?!?!? (ummm, HELLO?!?!)

The next words out of his mouth are I think you are supposed to be seeing my brother. (WHAT??? ) He goes on to explain that a lot of doctors in the area get confused between him and his brother. (he is Scott Russell, his brother is Shane Russell) They are both urologists, but Shane does only male infertility, where as Scott doesn't really do that stuff at all.

Of course we want to be seen by the person who really knows what he's doing, but come on!!!?!? Why weren't we told this when I called A MONTH ago to schedule?!? So, he called down to his brothers office, explained the situation, and got dh an appt tomorrow at 830. Unfortunately, I can't go, but at least he got in quickly.

I stopped down there and picked up the paperwork, and dh was not real thrilled with what it said...he has to repeat his SA, have bloodwork, and expect a *focused physical exam*. He's dreading it, to say the least. But, he did say that he wants to do it because he knows that it's worth it in the end...

Just wanted to update you...hopefully I will have some more info tomorrow...wish dh luck

Man- that is some bad luck! If people confuse the two of them alot, you'd think they'd have some sort of system worked out to prevent it from happening all the time! Crazy!
Good luck to your hubby this morning!

I can't believe they didn't tell you when you made the appointment. I'm glad your DH got another appointment so quickly. Good luck.

GRRRR! That is so rude!! They should have the appointment schedulers ask more questions to make sure they are seeing the right person.

Wishing your DH lots of luck!!

Oh that stinks! It sounds like our luck! Well, at least they got you in quickly! DH and I had similar bad luck with urlogists. We had an appointment with one and when we called back to ask specific questions they told us all they do is take the semen and view it under a microscope to see if there are lives one?!?! WTH?!?! So, then we had all kinds of trouble finding one to actually do the SA! But we FINALLY got an appointment on Sept 3rd....so frustrating! So I understand your view!!! Good luck on the SA. KUP!

Gees! How frustrating! I'm glad that you got another appointment with the right Dr! I'm really surprised they don't double and triple check that when making appointments! Hopefully your luck will turn around soon!

That totally sounds like my luck.
Why wouldn't they have verified this info when you made the appointment a month ago. Especially since he said that it happens often.

In the end all this hassle will be well worth it!

I told the doctor that the staff need to be more aware of the situation, especially since he said it happens often...grrrrr

Here's the update...

Dh went in yesterday and said he really liked the new doctor, even though they had to get a little *up close and personal* So, the doctor said that he is most concerned about the sperm count and not really worried about the motility. All he really said is that dh has to redo the SA and have bloodwork done. Then, we go back in a few weeks to figure out a plan. He was only in there like 10 minutes!

I have to admit, I was hoping for a little more info, but I guess he did what he could at this point. I hope we have more info in a few weeks, but I am really glad dh at least liked the doctor...that's good news

Thanks for the well wishes! I will KUP as I get more info!!

but overall it sounds like things are going really well, I hope you get good news at your next appt!

Thanks for stalking me Erika. It means a lot!! You should hang out with us over here! This is a great group of women!!!!

I still LOVE TTCAL, but it was just too hard to see people come and go so quickly and me to still be there month after month. I am not posting as much over there, but I am still checking on everyone often!

I am glad he finally got in! I will definitely be keeping everyone posted with any updates, but it will probably be a few weeks before we know anything else...sigh.
