So, this is my baby....LOL the only thing I have to show for nine months. We bought our house last November... with alot of remodeling intentions .... our bedroom being one of the last. It quickly turned into the first the first day we moved in. Going into the master bedroom, it had pepto bismol colored walls and a large, green, shag carpet. I immediately wanted to pull up the carpet before we got our bed set up for the night. Well, what we found was 30 years worth of mold and mildew. Whoever put the carpet down, put a layer of plastic inbetween the carpet and the padding, so everytime they shampooed the carpet it held the moisture in. We spent hours in masks, goggles, and gloves scraping the crud up. The floor was completely black. I was so distheartened that the home inspectors didn't catch this. We could have gotten sooo sick if I had not insisted that we get rid of an ugly carpet. It took forever to sand it and polyurethane it and I am bummed that I didn't get a before pic, but here is an after pic:

The we had the daunting task of scraping paint off of wallpaper and then steaming the wallpaper off the entire room. Essentially we had to go over the entire room 2 times. Spackle and sand... prime and paint and this is what we got....

The wall color was supposed to be more of a gray, but it turned out to be more of a purple... oh well, DH has a girly room now Because I did most of the work in the bedroom, I requested a new bed. Soooo that is what I chose!!! I am sooo happy to have one room in the house done! WooHoo!!!! Oh don't mind the bare walls... while I say that it's done.... it's almost done... LOL

That looks awesome! Glad you had the sense to pull up that carpet. I know if I had set up the bed we would have lived with the carpet for longer than I would have liked. I hope you continue to show us your projects!

Thanks Christina! I know if we had set the bed up, we would have left it up and been dealing with respiratory issues.

I have many many more projects to go.... I have to try to remember to take BEFORE pictures LOL I will definitely share!

looks great!! when we remodeled/renovated our house we used a handheld weed spraryer and put water in it and used that to spray the walls (quite thickly done) waited 5-10 mins went back and the wallpaper pretty much just peeled off and the bits that didnt we used a gibstoppers half blade (thats what BIL calls them) and it was really quick!

What's sad is that they're still not tall enough! My dog still has to jump from the stairs!

Caz!!! That is brilliant!!! I heard of doing half water and half (cheap) fabric softener.... but the weed sprayer! That would have saved so much time!

we have plaster walls, because our house is so old.... so I am not sure if we will just knock a few walls down next time! LOL

I just want to add two things ot make you chuckle... The floor looks great, but my hair gets into EVERYTHING, well after the floor dried and we started walking on it... I noticed a strand or two in the polyurethane LOL I told DH it was my signature!
Also when I was taking the pictures I was getting mad at DH because he was undressing and just throwing his clothes everywhere (typical man). Well I told him to knock it off and get out of my way... well he decided to moon me... he didn't think I would be quick enough with the camera, but guess what ladies??? I got a picture of the full moon! ROFL He goes great... now your going show all your friends.... hahahahaha no, I would love to, but I think I'll just tell them about it! ROFL
