HI everyone! My DH and I have been ttc for 9 months now and still nothing. I already have one beautiful daughter who is 7yrs and even though my DH loves her like she is his own I know he wants to experience the entire baby process.

I've recently started using ovulation predictor kits. I started just with the ovulation sticks and found that they were sometimes hard to read so a friend of mine lent me her Digital Ovulator. It is very easy to read and I was able to see when my High fertility time was and the day of ovulation... I was so excited to be able to see when I was ovulation but my excitement was squashed yesterday when I started.
I plan on calling my dr. after work to see when she can get me in to talk, possibly about starting me on Clomid. I've only heard a little about it.. any thougths on this?

My DH and I were pregnant 2 years ago (got pregnant the first month we tried) but had a miscarraige at 12 weeks.

My cousin and one of my best friends just found out they were pregnant. I'm really tryinig to be happy for them but it's hard...

just looking for a little advice.. Thanks!

Hi and Welcome!

My name is Alicia and I am the cohost of this board! I have been TTC#1 with no luck for 15 almost 16 months!! I was on Clomid for 3 months and am now starting Follistim and Ovidrel and doing an IUI.

I would suggest talking with your Dr. Just curious how old are you? I know if you are over 30 and have been trying for 6+ months they will definately see you and might even refer you to a specialist. I am 22 so they recommended I wait till we were TTC for a year, but my OB/GYN new something was up and got us in at 10 months. As far as ovulation predictors I used OPKs (the sticks) before seeing my RE and I also chart my BBT which helps to predict ovulation after a few cycles. It also helps to tell you when you actually ovulated looking back but it wont tell you ahead of time. I have heard that the digitals are wonderful though. Alot of girls here use them.

Clomid isnt something I would necessarily suggest to everyone. I didnt have a very good response, but I had very few side effects. There seems to be alot of concern about the side effects issue of Clomid....I would suggest discussing Femara with your Dr. also. It works the same way the Clomid does but with alot less side effects. There have been quite a few ladies that have had good results from both drugs.

Let me know if you have any more questions! I am always here to help!! Keep us updated and I look forward to getting to know you better!!

My name is Toni and my DH is Steve... we're on month 20 of TTC.... now starting injectables and IUI. I too tried a couple months with clomid, but no success. I don't use OPK's or a monitor.... I am being monitored with US... so I am afraid I can't be of much help to you there either. Good Luck and please feel free to just jump right in!

Welcome! I'm Cris married to Shawn and we're on Month 14 of ttc our first. I don't have any advice about fertility drugs, but I wanted to say good luck to you and that you've found a really great group here! I hope your stay is short and you get a sticky BFP soon!

I'm not on those types of meds- but I wish you much luck!!! There are usually about a months worth of tests- bloodwork, ultrasounds and such, before you and your RE start a game plan.

I'm Jessica (41) and DH is Paul (38) and we've been TTC#1 since January. I've used OPKs one cycle, but never got a positive (I think I used them too soon in my cycle) but am trying them again this cycle, so we'll see. I agree with Alicia about wondering how old you are and that if you're over 30 you could probably get in to see your doctor sooner. Good Luck!!

Hi and welcome! I'm Michelle, married to Mike, and in month 10 of TTC. I use ovulation predictor kits, OPKs, but I also temp. OPKs can get annoying though because you may release LH and then not O for another few days! Good luck!

I just read this on Web MD. Since this was published in 2005 is Femara now safe to use for fertility?

Nov. 30, 2005 -- The drug company Novartis is warning women not to take its drug Femara to boost fertility because of the potential risk of birth defects.
