sooooooooooooo Calvin went in for his SA today. We've been putting it off but finally he did it. Of course I didn't go, I was at work, and he did it right before his shift.

The last time we did it was 3 days ago. They said to do it no more than 5 days and no less than 2 days. He said it went well and he wasn't nervous at all. lol. I'm anticipating the results...I'm kinda torn though...

If he is fine, then all fingers point to me....

And if something is wrong..well that sucks too!!

Guess its kind of a lose/lose situation.

Ill let you all know when the results come back!!!

How long did the results take to come back and how do they look? What all will it tell us?....

and another quick question.........Those of you who have had an HSG, how is the pricing for that. At the moment I am waiting for insurance to kick in with my job. We just switched to aetna so its all weird and i just enrolled.

Alright thats about it for now........waiting on SA....planning on the HSG...and still TTC. I am on CD5 so i'm just finishing up AF..will start temping tomorrow morning for all you chart stalkers!!

I have no experience with either. I know the other ladies will be able to help you. Good Luck though!

hello!
going through the same thing actually now, so I will share what I've learned.

The SA results should be ready in about 5 days. They will tell you count, motility and morphology. The paper should have the "accepted" results so that you can compare your husbands with the "accepted". My RE looked at my husband's first results which were 30% motility and 2.5% morphology and said it was low normal to normal...even though the accepted results said normal was 50% motility and 5% morphology.

HSG, just had one done today. Apparently they cost around $1500. Just in case no one told you the HSG needs to be scheduled between day 3 and day 12 of your cycle. So when you are ready to have the HSG insurance wise then make sure to call your doctor the first day of your period so they can schedule it for you.

I know it so sucks! (thats the phase I'm in right now following the 2nd SA results which turned out to be lower than the first). The test results are going to be what they are going to be, in the long run it is better to know them and then you will know what the next step is.

When you do get the results (if they are not "normal") try not to spend hours on the internet looking things up and trying to figure them out as it will drive your crazy, let your doctor do that for you.

I hope the best for you. If you have any other questions just ask or feel free to vent.

Poppin over.... my DH had the SA on friday and got the results back on monday. We used Quest lab.. we love their service.

My dr told me HSG would cost about $500 (In Maryland) and if it's DH's problem, I don't need HSG. cuz I ovulate regularly and if the tests verify I ovulate regularly then straight to IVF/ICSI.

Are you ovulating regularly? Do you have any medical reasons?

I would shop around for prices for SA and HSG. Dh's SA cost $87.

Good luck

Hi Ashley, My DH put off the SA for a while! He finally did it, and the results were really bad! We really were expecting them to be normal. They called for a repeat SA, and the results were worse! I hope you don't have that problem! I also had the HSG, just to make sure all was working and it showed that my left tube is completely blocked. So we have 2 strikes against us. Our RE said most likely our only chance will be IVF with ICSI. Now they want to do bloodwork on DH and see why his count is so low/bad quality. Luckily we have insurance and it only cost $100 for the HSG, and the SA was $90. Our RE recommended that they do the SA, not a normal blood lab. He said that they have more experience doing SA's and if the person doing the test isn't experienced it can alter the results for the worse. So keep that in mind if you're "shopping around". Good luck to you!!!! I hope you get great results!! Keep us posted!!

Well he went and did it Friday morning...so hopefully sometime this week we should know...

As soon as we get the results I will let everyone know. The SA was only $30 so that was nice.

I really think his results should be good...or at least i hope, he said he filled the cup up! lol I know TMI but i thought that was funny.

I am unsure if I am medical issues at the moment...I was told it's possible I have stage 1 (minimal) endo during an ultra sound..but she said she cant diagnose me until I get a lapo surgery.

So not so sure about me yet....If DH's results come back great then i'll start assuming that its me!
