DH and I are going to be in a Halloween Parade in his family's hometown. Friends of my in-laws have inducted us into the town "Hayriders" group. It's hilarious. They get together at random points of the year and go on a tractor (sometimes Pick-up truck) pulled hay wagon rides all through town. This is the "limo" of Hay wagons- it's so awesome. We have a professional sign and everything. It's a bunch of adults who drink beers, share stories and have great laughs. Although the guy with the megaphone is going to get us into trouble one day.
So, the week before Halloween, we're going to be in the parade like I said. We will be judged and have to have a theme. Our theme of the year is "The Hillbilly Hayriders". We are all going to dress up like hillbillies and decorate the wagon and we'll toss candy to the crowd. We have a bunch of good ideas already (a rocking chair in the bed of the truck like the Beverly Hillbillies), we're attaching an old cage with a chicken in it to the wagon, we're hanging pots and pans from the sides. We even had a new sign made! This is the big time ladies!
I need some ideas of what I could wear (they were thinking I would wear a pot on my head with pigtails and blacked out teeth ), what could DH wear, other ideas for decorating the wagon etc. We are apparently going all out on this! So get your Hillbilly thinking caps on and help me out please!!! I'd love to hear your ideas!!!

I like the overalls idea... I just have to track down a pair! LOL... I can't seem to think of a store that would sell them around here! Maybe a consignment shop or the Salvation army? I'll have to start looking around.
I can't wait to hear what you come up with... you seem so creative!

What about something a little left of centre. Gum boots, trout fishing pants, a fishing rod, hat, blacked out teeth...no shirt?

Here you go Cris! Bare feet, jeans that are a couple 3 sizes too big with red suspenders and a worn out beer or NASCAR t-shirt that is a size too small with a pillow under it for DH's beer belly. And, of course the blackened teeth and him hanging onto a partial six-pack. You could always pop in the movie "Next of Kin" and get some good ideas.

Well - your DH could go all Larry the Cable Guy. LOL! Cut off the sleeves from a flannel shirt with jeans and a baseball cap. LOL "Git R Done"
Someone could be a live scarecrow - have straw sticking out of the arm, neck, and leg holes and maybe some from pockets and stuff like he/she is over flowing with stuffing.

Hey, I'm living in Alabama...I have a some GREAT ideas!
He needs a pair of old worn out overalls, a plaid shirt that is cut off and sleeveless with a flannel shirt underneath (for warmth for him)...boots because of the cold..or he could go barefoot.
RC cola and Moonpies are HUGE down here. Seriously, if you can't get any, I wouldn't mind sending you both. Seriously, rednecks love RC cola and moonpies! Just PM me.
He needs a green John Deere tractor hat with a mullet.

I didn't think of going that route! That's a good idea! Thanks!
That's pretty funny! I love the hat the guy is wearing! I might just have to pick one up for DH to wear everyday! Thanks for the idea!
