We found out why we are having such a hard time conceiving....
My doctor confirmed that it is not me, I have no reproductive issues....but DH has a severe problem.
The SA results came in, and he has 0 sperm. She basically told me that the lab said that there were no sperm to analyze. She does not know much about it so she referred him/us to a urologist.
We are devastated by hearing this....
I spoke with a urologist briefly and Calvin is going to call and set up a time to see him. The man basically said to not rule out conceiving a child yet. He said that there are 3 reasons why the count is 0...insufficient hormones, or a blockage preventing sperm from being released, or sperm production. He explained to me that there are ways around these problems and that he would be happy to help us.....
We are trying to find the positives but it is soo hard when you hear something like that...I appreciate all of your support and any advice or feedback would be great.
I never thought in a million years that this would happen....I kind of wish the issue was me now....

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you got such unfortunate news! Try not to get too discouraged just yet... it seems like the urologist will work hard to try to figure this all out and help get you pregnant. Hopefully you'll be able to get in soon and it will be a simple fix.
We're all here for you while you get this all figured out! Sending you lots of

I'm sorry you got crappy news....
My DH's first and second SA were really bad (the second one so bad that there was nothing to analyze also).. The third one was loads better... I recommend doing a second SA and seeing an urologist.. It could be anything from a varicose vein in the way, testicular failure, hormonal imbalance, etc... Make sure the urologist draws an oglioblood (hormone levels) and have his thyroid checked. The urologist should also do a physical exam of the testicles to see about a varicole vein (might order a testicular ultrasound as well)..
There are many many options available for MFI (male factor infertility), so please don't give up hope!... We'd love to have you over on the TTC W/ Male Factor Infertility board!!

Ugh- I'm sorry about your news. Like the others have suggested though, hopefully the urologist will be able to help out and I'd also recommend doing a second SA to be sure.

Ok, FIRST i'm going to start off with a big
NEXT, i'm going to tell you that i know you are in shock, but i worked with a lady, years ago, but her husband had the same thing going on, and when they went in for some exploratory, they found it was a sebacious cyst blocking something that didn't allow for the sperm production. he had the cyst removed and they conceived immediately.
SO don't don't don't give into the doom and gloom. I KNOW this is going to be something that they will be able to fix for you guys!!! don't lose faith and hope. without faith and hope you have nothing!!! positive thinking!! the urologist is going to be able to help you get your little one!!!!
I will now finish with another - I will pray very hard for you that this is easily fixable!!!

Ashley, I'm sorry I would also suggest a second SA. It's great that the urologist is already so proactive about helping out. Hopefully it's something simple to fix. Today's medical technology is amazing so please don't count yourself out by any means. KUP!

Thank you all SOOOO much! Sometimes you can't trust everything your gyno says. I read the other post of the girl posting something soooo similar to me, and her gyno said she would never conceive. My obgyn said she thought that as well. and as soon as I talked to the urologist he told me that she was definitely wrong. The worst that it could be would be there is no sperm production, and he even told me that with todays technology they can literally take sperm from the testes and do an IVF...so i am NOT and will NEVER give up hope. I have no problem with adopting but either way we WILL have a biological child. I cannot and will not imagine us not creating a child ourselves. Somehow, someway it will happen and I am going to continue posting and we continue our journey.....Honestly, when I started posting here in February I had a STRONG feeling that there was something wrong. Calvin and I have been NTNP for a long time so I knew something was up. Now that we now, we are going to attack the problem and get the treatment started. Again, I appreciate EVERYTHING from you girls...and I want to stay around even though our TTC journey will be on pause until we have a plan of action..

Ashley, My DH has an extremely low Sperm count with 1% morphology, that we just found out about recently, so I khow how devistating it can be. The shock, then the realization and the sadness. But I also believe that we WILL have a biological child! Your words of wisdom have actually boosted my hope! Having that positive attitude will definatly help the situation!! I hope you get good news at the Urologist appt! Keep us posted!

I am going to post here on this board but for now I am going to spend most of my time on the new board, TTC with Male infertility. I would love for any woman who have male issues to come join us!! If it comes down to it and we have to do IVF then heck, thats what god intended. I'm just ready to get the ball rolling LOL. I will let you all know how his first appt with the urologist goes!

I had DH just start taking a regular multi-vitamin this week after he got his SA results back - it doesn't have anything special for sperm production, it's just a regular old mult-vitamin. I figured it couldn't hurt until we met with the urologist and got more information on what to do/take next...
