Hey guys, I've used a regular digital thermometer up until it was going haywire (now I'm starting to think it wasn't going haywire??) last week so I went to Walmart and bought the Digital BBT and began using it.. With my regular digital thermometer - my temps were ALWAYS above 97.0 but now with the BBT it's going below with 96.90 or above??? How can I know when the temp is right since I"m deaf and can't hear the beep?? This is SERIOUSLY messing up my chart!

From what I understand each thermometer is a little different which is why it's suggested not to change in the middle of your cycle.* Are you temping orally or vaginally?* The reason I'm asking is because you can't hear the beeps when it's done you may have to time it.* Some thermometers are quick and some aren't.* I've noticed that mine can take several minutes (depending on how high my temp is).* So, what I was thinking is that you could time it when you take your temp.....say give it 5 minutes.* But, if you're temping orally, you may not be able to breathe thru your nose for that long of a timeframe.* My difficult thing is that if I don't push the button correctly it doesn't start up, even tho I hear the beep it's a different beep.* So, hopefully you can use one that's easy to operate for you.You can try PMing Aaron Nicole, she's a host on TTC#1 and she's deaf, maybe she'll have some pointers and ideas for you.Good Luck, hun!

I was going to suggest timing your thermometer as well. Maybe you could have someone help you figure out how much time you'd need for an accurate temp- Have them listen for the beep and time how long it takes. If you do that a few times, you can probably get a good average and maybe that will give you a more accurate measure of time for temping. Does that make sense? I hope so!

I would definitely ask Aaron about it though! She's probably got lots of great info to share! Good luck!
